Well after installing the ATI graphics update so far so good. Funny thing is I was on the phone to Apple talking to their service guy re my Imac freezing. He is telling me same old stuff check hardware test etc. While I'm talking to him I check for an update and there it finally is. Seems funny I would be the one telling him there is a update to download. They seem to have some communication issues within there different departments. I was within 1 minute of telling him I was returning the machine. I just hope thats it for the quality issues and I can just enjoy my new Imac now. If I have any freezing issues I will update.

my 24" imac crashed 5 times yesterday

i am getting so frustrated because i am a pc crossover user and my new 3k$ mac machine crashes more than the 5 year old pc i use at work that has 1/4 the amount of RAM. we cannot use the computer and listen to itunes at the same time. itunes appears to be the common crashing denominator, actually it will even crash if we aren't even touching anything, all of a sudden the music stops and i walk over and the rainbow thinking mouse cursor is working away and if i click on anything then it is a complete freeze. i've left it like that for hours and come back and it is still locked up solid. only a hard restart will bring it back, which can't be good. i've also had problems shutting down the computer, i click on shutdown and it thinks forever and never shuts down, i've left it all night and it is still 'shutting down' in the morning but not off. this is total bullsh$t and i am getting tired of waiting for a fix. we have the current updates installed, but still no difference. we were hoping leopard would make a difference, but after reading this forum, we are doubtful.

sigh, at least the pretty monitor is good for watching dvds...but i could have just bought a bigger lcd tv for less $$$
