I had a Dell Inspiron One back around 2009 with a 1080P 24" touch screen. I bought it to use as a large Crestron panel for the house. Since then the iPad came out and I sol that machine off and use the iPad as my interface for my AV system.

In day to day operations of the computer system I don't want a touch screen because then I would get smudges on the screen I have to look at. If they could somehow make a touch screen that doesn't show finger prints that would be pretty nice.

I wouldnt bet on it either way as not that much has leaked on the MacBook pros either.

Well the MBP has at least had images leak of purported updated uni-bodies from manufacturing, combine that with all the information about a "Dynamic Function Row" and there is significantly more leaks on the MBP than the iMac.

My personal assumption is leaks are much more likely to happen with design changes than technical specification changes. Which is why we have heard very little about the processor/GPU selections for the MBP, but have had a a few leaks regarding the design changes.

There is a now 1 year old rumor of a 32" 5k LG display that was slated for Apple's use.

I've long believed they would make a larger screened iMac Pro and that panel would be a perfect choice.

(There also were rumblings about an LG 8k display...so maybe even bigger...)

32"? Crap, I'm going for the 27" strictly because I need the GPU performance (and CPU) and the 21" is crap for that. I would love the 24" size, though, oh well. A 32" screen would be right out for me...just too much territory as is :(

Exactly the reasons why I skip over the 21.5": too small and gimped graphics. Oh and one more reason for me: gimped storage options. I want a 1TB SSD BTO like it's big brother.

I'd definitely take a 24" iMac if it can address these issues.

Yeah, once you start upgrading the components, you quickly come to the price point of the 27" iMac, so why not get a better screen, and dGPU

A pen is better - you can see where you're touching - and can be more precise than a mouse, plus if its a proper, inductive pen (Wacom etc.) it adds the ability to hover (not sure if the Apple Pencil, which is just a super-high-res capacitative device, can do that).

Apple Pencil doesn't hover, the tip is so fine that you do not need it to. I can place it exactly where I want on the screen. I had a galaxy pro 12 before iPad and their pen had hover. But galaxy hover got in in my way most of the time when drawing and it was a tad laggy. I just don't think u need it with Apple Pencil. A regular pencil doesn't hover on plain paper lol, and you can draw just fine with that.

At 32 inches Apple might as well forget building in the iMac and build in the Apple TV and make it the Apple TV 4 with %K support. I'd pay $1000 for that easy especially if I could connect a Mac Pro to a couple of them and have dual 5K monitors.

In all seriousness though I feel like 27" is a pretty good size for Apple. They do a good job scaling the UI elements. I might be willing to go up to 32" but I think for a desktop machine that is the way upper ceiling of the size I want to look at. I think it would be interesting if Apple started looking into making the screen curved.

For the past 9 years I have been using a 37" monitor on my gaming PC. It's actually been a very nice size.

I want to consolidate on an iMac this year. But going down to 27" is bugging me a bit. If I were going with another Windows machine, I'd probably pick up a 4K 34" display.

I'd be all for a bigger iMac.

Curved screen would be amazing! I was going to buy a dell 34" curved monitor for $700 but it wasn't 4K. I think it was 1440 or more but definitely not 4K. I'm using a 32" tv with my laptop now and I like it

Imagine this as an iMac. A touch screen iMac.

Yeah, it's Norman Foster's drafting table. But note the size. Note the tilt.

A niche product, and if one were to demand a retina display-- as one should-- computationally and financially demanding.

Where would the keyboard and mouse go?
Details, details...

You'd have a stylus, of course. Perhaps a felt bottom keyboard.

But that would take up valuable pixels, you say?

Valuable? When you've got megapixels by the score, it really doesn't matter that you can't use some of them.

Its been awfully quiet on the Mac front for last few weeks. Wonder if we'll see this anytime soon. MacRumors seems fairly confident there will be an October release date or something.

I've been waiting for a 32" iMac for a long time .. i hope they actually do it
I wonder if the cost of a large display would price it out of the boundary for consumers to consider such a machine. The 27" is a nice size. Yeah bigger is better but its also pricier.

That's hideous 0.0 was that a real mac? I love that drafting table though and $7500 wouldn't be bad for an iMac like that with stylus, cmon Mac Pro top of the line was 13 grand and it was horrible. I'm surprised apple hasn't come out with something like wacom, I mean, they're the supposed to be the top computer company in the world for design and what do they really offer now. iPad Pro? iMac? It's not really revolutionary in the design world. Apple used to lead the design world now they're 10 steps behind

I loved that design, and was saddened to see it abandoned so quickly
I'd love to see an iMac designed like that again with the base internals resembling a current Mac Pro.
  • A unified thermal core where air intake is around the edges at the base and exhaust at top.
  • Have the external case slip off to reveal all the internal components, ram processor, and pcie storage etc.
The nice thing about that design was the display was completely adjustable (height, tilt etc).

Yeah. Very very quiet. I'm wondering why people are confident about the end of the month. If Apple wants to get the holiday sales this year they really need to get going.
