I'm sure you can go to Best Buy and get one a couple hundred off as they clear the last of the stock out if they have another one coming out.

Does Intel have a new CPU out in the same rated performance slot as the 6700K?. If not I doubt there will be an update or a price reduction nor will there be a competitive machine out there with a processor that doesn't exist yet. What they might do is double the RAM in each trim level for the same price.

I think the CPU should be very similar in performance due to the second tock cycle...just a little tweaked. The big gain will be with be with the GPU, which has a die shrink, down volt, and overclock all wrapped up into one. No new tech, but that occurs only with AMD in the spring chip release, and I don't think it will be that significant. Maybe Apple will drop the price of SSDs given the chip stacking tech that was announced at the beginning of this year or the end of last.

You're right an upgraded GPU would make an update worth it. The 395X still struggles in games like X-Com2 at 1440P. It would be nice to get an upgrade to the graphics performance. I'm not sure what the Intel release schedule is but if they have the successor to the 6700K coming out I still think it would be worth it for Apple to wait for the processor and then upgrade both. If the processor isn't much faster maybe it will be cooler and provide a wider thermal envelope for the GPU for better performance.

That would be an iMac worth selling mine and upgrading to. :D

I also want to see Thunderbolt 3 on it and god willing a means in which to use an external graphics card via the Thunderbolt 3 to drive the internal screen. I would sell my current iMac and move to the BTO top of the line new model in a heartbeat.

having said that I prepare myself for disappointment. :(
