imac quad-core available for apple employee discount?

I'm guessing until the screen fiasco is figured out, don't expect any discounts on the i5's and i7's...for a long long time.
 
i bought c2d with the help of a friend. after 2 replacements i asked the customer care if i could get upgraded to a i5 and they ok'd it. shipping out on the 1st, sent mine out via fedex today. simple.
 
Any updates on this?

Is the 27" C2D still available for the employee discount even though there are screen issues (3 week shipping delay)?
 
i7 Available for Friends & Family Discount?

Still hoping to score an i7 with the friends and family discount. With the shipping times moving from weeks to days, is there any chance the discount is now available for the quad cores?
 
I bug my Apple friend about this almost daily..

No word on any discount on the i7's..

Still hoping they come around soon...

Saw 3-5 days delivery today in the store...please come soon! I will contact my buddy today to see if there is anything. The refresh is probably not that far out as it is.

Hi Jrahn, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm waiting for the employee discount to kick in on the Quad Cores. Let us know when you find out. I had my buddy at apple check for me yesterday and it was no dice yet. I hope it kicks in this weekend or March 1st, as I'll need to place an order pretty soon.

Also in Germany the employee discount on the i-cores is n/a anymore. My friend checked on Tuesday.
 
I just gave up and went for the 27" C2D ... after doing a lot of research and realizing that the only aftermarket software I have ever purchased for my computer is Microsoft Office I realized the i5 wouldn't make a large difference. I have been using my PowerBook G4 for the last 4.5+ years without many issues. I am sure the C2D will be way more computer than I can use.

Coming from a PC, I used a 3ghz C2D for the last 3 years. Not getting the i5 or i7 would be a huge step back for me in the timemachine, so I have to wait until the employee discount works again. But the latest Apple statement about them having fixed the problems is letting me hope for the best. For everyday use, the C2D will do well for 2 more years.
 
Well I got tired on waiting for the Apple Employee friends and family (I think it's 15% discount). It wasn't and still isn't available on the core i5/i7 27 imacs.

So I decided to risk it and get a brand new core i7 on ebay.

My purchased price with free shipping was $2450. Plus the iMac came with 4 extra GB of RAM (seperately in another shipment) Plus 3 years of AppleCare. The ebay seller gave me a retail AppleCare box Plus the receipt for Applecare that matches the serial number on the retail still in shrink wrap AppleCare box.

I figure retail core i7 sell for 2200. So with 15% discount, that comes out to around 1870. Plus add back 7% Florida sales taxes equals 2000 (if I were to get the friends and family discount). But that's for the standard 4GB RAM and no AppleCare.

My deal was 2450 from ebay (no taxes) plus I got a bing.com cashback ($196) so my total cost will come out to be around $2254. The spread difference between my costs and the friends and family is nothing since the ebay seller threw in AppleCare retail package (worth at least $120 since I could have gotten university staff discount) and 4GB DDR3 RAM would have run me around $100.

My 27 inch core i7 screen is perfect. The machine runs very quiet (except when I am using handbrake!) But for regular tasks, it runs quiet. The ebay seller shipped my iMac brand new sealed in retail apple imac box.
 
I have tried justifying the immediate purchase out of impatience. I am glad that the discount wasn't available immediately since there were so many returns due to yellow tint etc. I will still hold off though, since I should be getting the 25% discount w/ free shipping and discounted applecare as well.

I am sure the C2D will do well for way more than the next 2 years ... :)
 
Ship Time Just Changed!!

Okay, the ship times for the iMac Quad Cores just changed from "Ships: 3-5 Business Days" to "Ships: Within 24hrs".

I can't get in touch with my buddy at apple to check if the Quads are available on the EPP site. Can anyone check and confirm?!

For the love of Mike, please let the wait be over.

I recieved word yesterday from my friend at apple that an internal memo informed him that the quad-core iMacs will be available on the employee discount starting Monday march the 8th. I saw this thread a couple days ago and decided to come back and register and post this info. I've been waiting awhile for this too, so I know how anxious some of u probably are. Cheers, and happy iMac ordering
 
It's Out!!!

Just had my brother place an order for the i5 with the employee friends and family discount. Got an email saying the order delivers between Mar 9th-12th. The wait's finally over Wooo!!! Lets just hope I don't run into any of the yellowing/flickering/noise/heating issues.

Nice, I'll get ahold of my contact today and get on that i7 asap. Rendering on my early intel is excruciating.

but how hard is it to have a friend order you a system using their EPP..

like, could they use your name/payment/address info?

is it something that is locked in only to their name/address?

my friend is willing to let me use his, but I don't wanna burden him in anyway..

just hoping someone may know..

There's EPP for Employees and EPP for Employee Friends and Family. My brother just got me the EPP for Friends and Family and it was pretty straight forward to ship to me. Not sure how the EPP for Employees works? Its probably the same?
