Mine was also ordered on 6th, apparently shipped on 13th, but UPS tell me they can't find it and to start a claim, which is a 10 to 30 day process to investigate. I don't know which is worse, especially as Apple already charged my CC.
Grrr.
Call Apple. They’ll push the investigation from their end, which carries more weight with UPS, since Apple spends way more money with them.

I'm not so happy about the UPS shipping this time around. None of the domestic shipments had issue (FedEx, UPS, USPS) within this month that I have experienced. According to the status page, it said UPS 2nd Day Air. Not to mention, Apple starts the AppleCare+ coverage 2 days after product has been shipped rather than the day I receive the actual product. It's also strange to see the routing from China -> South Korea -> US.

The iMac supposed to arrive yesterday, that's why I requested a hold at the local UPS Store.

Mine is out for delivery by FedEx. Just yesterday it was in China - and this morning on the FedEx vehicle for delivery. Ordered 08/09 - original estimate for delivery was 09/01-09/08.

Of course I've been checking my Nest Cam obsessively since morning for any signs of the FedEx truck.

Maybe in the end you'll be lucky to have your shipping dates being pushed all the way into October so you can order a new AS iMac instead ;)

Everything is all setup. I am seeing about a 35% boost in X-Plane 11 performance over my 2019 iMac with the Vega 48. Got Windows 10 installed on the machine( much easier than last year cause it installed the keyboard and mouse drivers correctly this time.... :) ). I just have to reinstall a few more things on the Windows side and I am back up and running. Just need to wait for iStat Menu's on the MacOS side and Mac Fan Control on the Windows side to update their apps to restore functionality(I don't want to game on the Windows side without the ability to manually control the fan). Happy to see though that idle temps for the 2020 are pretty much the same as the 2019.

Next step is to wipe the 2019 and get it ready to give it to the parents.

Guess it is time to sign off this thread since my journey is complete here.

Great post! Don't sign off yet, I'm enjoying your replies and have a quick query for you!

I'm expecting my machine in about a week.

Do you have any best-practices or quick tips for getting windows loaded? I haven't installed bootcamp since it feels like the 80s, but at least 6-7 years, so I've forgotten the nuances and can imagine not recognizing peripherals would be a bit awkward. ;)

Is it also still the case that once you partition your drives, that's it, so decide the size wisely?

Thanks!

Emailed UPS regarding the exception, was told export paperwork was not sent by shipper to call Apple. Called Apple, they say nothing they (support personnel) can do, handled by back office to just wait... ? If it doesn’t arrive by 25th to callback. For some reason I don’t feel all warm and fuzzy for a 25th delivery but I guess we’ll wait and see.

Export Paperwork? ?‍♂️

You may be pleasantly surprised. The steps in your tracking history look practically identical to what mine were recently. Mine was in Germany from the 15th to the 17th and I picked it up here in San Diego the morning of the 19th. Things moved much quicker once it left Germany.

I don't see an exception in your screenshot. Mine is almost identical down to the exact minute but shifted one day later. My scheduled date just moved up from Tuesday to Monday.

Hey friend do you mind if I get a look at your history after it left Germany?

I checked anyone at work also ordered the new 27-inch iMac. There's an order shipped out on Friday, August 14, 2020 via DHL Express and received on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. :(

My i7;1TB;8gb;5700xt;10GBe;extended US keyboard;trackpad got moved up from Sept 10-17 to Sept 8-15 sometime in the last 2 hours. Order placed about 8:30pm PST on 8/18.

Not that I’m obsessively checking the order status every 2-ish hours or anything.

My loaded up iMac, i9, 8gb, 4tb, 5700xt, 10gb Ethernet, ordered on the 6th with original delivery of aug 21-28 just got pushed out to sep15-22! Horrible!

That‘s terrible news, my sympathies. I wonder whether they’ve sold more of the big storage versions than they expected. My maxed out (other than ram) came a lot earlier than expected, although it was originally down for 21-28th.

If I now play with the online ordering, the stock models are “in stock” and any other variation I add says ships in 3-5 days. But as soon as I select over 1Tb of ssd, it moves out to 2-3 weeks.

In reality, I’m guessing most people ordering by adding to the top spec variation is going to be selecting at least 1Tb as an absolute minimum, more likely 2-4 if not 8.

I ordered my iMac back on the 13th and selected the 2 TB SSD. I got mine yesterday, one week after order.

Boot Camp Assistant is really simple to use. It will pretty much walk you through it that I don't have much tips. But yeah once you partition the drive, that is it. There is no resizing it later without wiping Windows and starting over.

My issue last year with my 2019 was odd. Got Windows installed, but starting from the setup menu keyboard and mouse wouldn't work. Thankfully when the keyboard was plugged in, Windows saw it as a "wired" keyboard and worked. I figured out the keyboard shortcuts to navigate through the setup process. But even once I got to the desktop, still wouldn't work so I figured the drivers didn't get installed. There is an Apple support document in case the boot camp installer didn't open and directs you where it is to manually initialize it. Fumbling through in trying to learn the keyboard short cuts to do that, find the installer and start it which got the appropriate drivers installed and got the mouse and keyboard working.

No such issues with the 2020 iMac thankfully. Keyboard and mouse worked out of the gate and the installer opened the moment the desktop loaded. I was delaying installing Windows yesterday due to last years frustrations. Ha

Finally got my update from UPS with package arriving and then quickly departing from Anchorage. Not sure what the route is from here. The final destination in Vancouver, BC. Anybody from BC know the UPS route from China?
