So despite an original delivery date of Dec. 9, I was pleasantly surprised that I got a shipping announcement a few days ago. The very weird thing is it's coming from Ireland! I called Apple to verify that and they said yes since it's backordered the one they could get the soonest is coming from the Ireland.Ordered mine an hour before the announcement about next week's event. I would have rather gotten the mid-tier model but the upper tier was the only one with a SSD option above 2TB. Assuming Apple doesn't announce a new iMac next week, a month is a long time to wait... Excited but... ?????
Same here - my CTO started in Ireland then over to Germany and is now in Louisville, KY. My original date for receipt was 11/9 - based on UPS I should receive my iMac tomorrow before 9pm.So despite an original delivery date of Dec. 9, I was pleasantly surprised that I got a shipping announcement a few days ago. Anybody heard of this before?
I'm aware of the Hong Kong, China shipments but this is the first time I've seen it come from Ireland...
It's UPS...
When did it ship? I'm curious if mine will arrive earlier....????Same here - my CTO started in Ireland then over to Germany and is now in Louisville, KY. My original date for receipt was 11/9 - based on UPS I should receive my iMac tomorrow before 9pm.
Shipped on 11/2 from Ireland - left Louisville, KY around 1:40pm today, should be in Philadelphia sometime tonight and then to Delaware and out for delivery. My UPS driver told me today - "if it's in Louisville, it will be here tomorrow".When did it ship? I'm curious if mine will arrive earlier....????
Thanks so much. The good news is that mine did something very similar to yours. From Ireland to Germany to New Jersey. UPS hasn't officially updated the eta but it looks like it should come tomorrow. UPDATE: Received my computer yesterday as UPS tracking said. The machine came with Catalina loaded. Thanks so much. The good news is that mine did something very similar to yours. I'm curious.. I assume yours came with Catalina??? I'm also assuming Apple is going to release Big Sur next week and was wondering if they are already loading some machines with that or Catalina?
Catalina is Apple’s most current production OS. Big Sur is close to release, but the final release version has not dropped yet.UPDATE: Received my computer yesterday as UPS tracking said. The machine came with Catalina loaded.
I'll be honest - not sure what is coming with the computer. I am assuming it is Catalina with the option to upgrade once Big Sur comes out. I'll update this if it is something different than Catalina.
I have to say I'm a little torn. I'm within the return window for my new one but I was kinda hoping Apple would surprise us yesterday. I'm generally thrilled with my new imac but these big bezels and chin do have to go....YES!! 2020 iMac owners didn't get slayed today with the announcement of a new Apple Silicon iMac! ?
We should be safe until next summer
I think the current iMac design is timeless. If no bezels or chin, where would people post their stickies??I have to say I'm a little torn. I notice your sig says you are using 40GB RAM. Take out the 8GB Apple RAM and it will run faster. This is a quirk of the 2020 iMacThe M1 is a beast when it comes to power per watt, but in the coming 2-3 years I'd never buy one. I want to have my bootcamp support, and I personally really like the Steve Jobs era design. That said, I received my iMac this afternoon, and my god what a machine. Even gaming in BootCamp (yes, I also bought my iMac for gaming) is amazing. 4K on High settings in most games, and getting steady 60+ FPS with the fans not even ramping up (GPU with a max of 65C)
I also saw this but what do I do with the original ram then? Isn't that kind of a waste?I notice your sig says you are using 40GB RAM. Take out the 8GB Apple RAM and it will run faster. This is a quirk of the 2020 iMac
