Ordered 64GB from OWC to add to the iMac.

My old 2009 iMac has been waiting along time to retire!

What discount did you get cuz when I price that out it comes to like 4499
It was an EDU discount plus an Apple customer service adjustment, the actual final adjustment put the price at $3519 not to mention a FREE pair of Airpods!! ?

Can't wait to get it!

Here's my new guy.

Not coming until August 20-27, I suppose because of the fancy nano glass.

That's the one feature that I'm not quite sold on, as I don't want a duller screen, but have very sensitive eyes and work near a lot of natural/artificial light so like the idea behind the nano glass.

One quick related question - it's been a while since I migrated over desktops (do it a lot more on the MBP). Is there a similar procedure of using a thunderbolt etc. to transfer all the files, or is it mostly via cloud download these days? My prior iMac is a 2014 model.

You can connect it hardwired from the old machine to transfer, or use WiFi as well through the Migration Assistant (takes longer), but I enjoy setting up from new and just adding my accounts and restoring from iCloud Drive (Desktop & Documents folders) then installing whatever applications I need.

Thank you CheesePuff! I was thinking a clean install is always cathartic too. Ironically, the part that gets me the most concerned is migrating my MS Office suite over to the new machine. I work in Office 365, but think I own Office for Mac, so it's confusing with all the passwords and keys, etc. I can't quite afford a gap in my work productivity if I'm sans Outlook/PowerPoint/Word/Excel for a day, which is kind of sad now that I'm writing it out! ha

If you have 365 it should include the digital download from your 365 account and can download and activate the product again as soon as you have the new machine booted up.
