Vinyldust is getting his one week sooner than others. Canadians get better treatment? :)
I hope I haven't Jinxed myself - The package is still at UPS in Shanghai, and my new ETA is now Monday 17, instead of Friday the 14th - so who knows - At least hopefully a bit comforting for most to know Apple is processing / building them - now just up to Shipping to get them to us!

Is everyone's early BTO order (August 4 and 5) for 27" still in the Processing stage?
Ordered mine on the 5th. Still in processing and expected arrival date is still between 8/20-8/24. My CC got charged on Sat so I thought it’d move soon. But no movement, and charge is still pending.

Here's another data point for those of you waiting for your BTO iMacs to ship. Mine "shipped" last Friday, but as you can see--like a backpacker taking a gap year before college--it's just kind of hanging out in Shanghai for a while.

I hear Shanghai is a modern and vibrant city, but I would kind of like my iMac to hop on a plane and make it's way to this side of the Pacific. You know?

mines stuck in Shanghai too. My estimated delivery has been moved up though (from 8/31 to 8/17), so im excited, but was hoping to get it even sooner, however, I’m starting to think its going to probably be held there for awhile.

Was surprised to see my BTO iMac ship from Ireland instead of China this morning. Ordered on August 4th about 2 hours after the new machines were announced. Originally scheduled for Aug 19-21 delivery and now looks like it will arrive on Thursday!

What is the configuration you ordered?

Hi Everyone. I just bought the lowest refurbished iMacPro, but I'm debating returning it to get the new 27" iMac with 10 cores and latest graphics card. My question is, which is better right now - iMac Pro or the new 27"iMac?

The iMac Pro has superior cooling and thermals, and 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports on 2 controllers (the iMac has 2 ports on 1 controller).

If you will not be sustaining peak performance out of the GPU and CPU for extended periods of time, I would go with the 2020 iMac as it now has most of the other features from the Pro on it, and the 5700 XT GPU is better then what's available for the Pro.

Thank you for you advice and response! Super helpful. I'm basically using the computer for 3D animation and design. Do you think it'd be best to go with the new 27" iMac? The 10 core and the 16g graphics card is better than the iMacPro. I was wondering about the processor, but it sounds like the new iMac is the way to go?

If I were you, I would go with the the new iMac either i7 or i9, upgrade to the 5700 or 5700 XT, and upgrade the RAM yourself not through Apple. Will be a big savings over the iMac Pro while getting the same or better performance in areas.

Been waiting months to replace my dead iMac and finally the time has come. Just waiting for final approval from the wife before checkout... Bit rich for my blood, but this could be the last new computer I buy in my lifetime so I don't mind spending a bit more. (would have maxed out, but this was about as much as I can spend.) Hopefully the nano-texture glass will be worth it. Gonna get RAM from 3rd party, obviously.

Good news, BTO friends!

My BTO iMac is now moving ("In Transit") and it just got a scheduled delivery date for this Friday by 10:30a (while Apple has been promising a Friday delivery, prior to today FedEx had not specified a delivery date).

Here's hoping your iMacs are seeing some movement today, too.
