Ordered BTO (i9 10 core, 5700 TX, 1TB SSD) on Aug 9 with estimated delivery Sep 1-9.... shipped late last night with an estimated delivery of Aug 18. Super surprised by early ship. Coming to Iowa straight from China via UPS.

I ordered this exact config but also with 10-gigabit. Ordered it a day before you and mine is still processing. Wonder if that network card is adding a little time?

Ordered the top-tier model on the 5th with the only customization being a larger SSD (i7 8-core, 5500 XT, 8GB RAM, 4TB SSD). I'm also still at Processing, so no idea what puts orders at the top of the queue.

Adding a local numeric keyboard adds 2 weeks to delivery date...

How is possible that such basic spec is not in stock? Otherwise if ordered today it would be delivered on Friday.

I think any customization puts you 2 weeks out.

Also, I forgot I too ordered the numeric keypad keyboard. So maybe that's another factor in why mine is still processing while others who've ordered days after me are already seeing theirs shipped. Not so much scarcity of supply but the optimization of the order fulfillment process kicked me down to a low priority queue.

I originally ordered on the 5th at 9pm, but was contacted by a manager the next day that somehow I ordered the 2019 version of the iMac (even though my email showed the new version i.e. had "standard glass" which wasn't an option on the 2019 - anyone else have this happen?). So I had to cancel my order and reorder on the 6th. Shipped yesterday (Aug 11) in the morning from China and is scheduled for delivery next Monday the 17th in NYC (was originally given August 21-25).

Next problem is I got the VESA mount and my desk isn't here yet to affix it to ?

Encountered a glitch which hopefully doesn't delay things too much if at all. Custom order placed August 4 and initially set for delivery August 19-21. Credit card charged August 8. Yesterday morning I get notification from Amex that they declined a charge for my protection. I check the order and it's on hold because the credit card couldn't be authorized? I call and speak with a rep at Apple, she looks at the order and sees that they already took my money the first time back on the 8th. The system glitched somehow and they tried to "over-authorize" for the amount again. Apologized profusely but there wasn't anything she could do on her end, she had to escalate it to the "payments team" and the issue could take 4-5 business days to resolve but probably less as she said there wasn't a charge to actually reverse, they would just need to erase the second attempt or something.

Thankfully though, I log in this morning and the order looks back to normal. No references to needing a credit card or payment needed, and the progress bar which was ghosted out during this nonsense is now back to being filled with green up to Processing. Back to showing a delivery date still of the original August 19-21. Looks like their payments team corrected the problem.

No idea what happened, and the rep didn't know either. Totally bizarre. I just want my shiny new iMac within the timeframe they promised!

I'm returning my 500 GB that I picked up in store and reordering 1 TB.

In the meantime I've been able to test the machine. Coming from a late 2013 MacBook Pro I am blown away. It's incredible how much you don't realize you're missing, until you actually upgrade. Not only is this machine a powerhouse compared to my last, but I also gained a new 5K tv. Very happy with this purchase.

Ordered mine on Sunday, was told Sept 1-9th estimated delivery date. Just moved to preparing for shipping this morning. Chatted with Apple, and they were confused because estimated dates still say Sept 1-9. Said to just keep checking online to see if it more than likely ships today, but may be delayed since it's a brand new product.

I love celebrating Christmas in August. I'm coming from a 2017 21.5" and this 27" is an absolute beast compared to my old machine. I'm finally glad they added BT 5.0. My accessories connected instantly. BT on the older Macs was always an issue for me. This came installed with macOS 10.15.6.

My 2017 also recently suffered from the dust under the screen issue that has apparently plagued this design for years. I'm definitely adding apple care this time.

On a side note, I seem to recall Jon Prosser saying these were "ready to ship" months ago. Doesn't sound like it with 10.15.6 pre-installed.

Was surprised to see my BTO iMac ship from Ireland instead of China this morning. Ordered on August 4th about 2 hours after the new machines were announced. Originally scheduled for Aug 19-21 delivery and now looks like it will arrive on Thursday!
I’m almost exactly the same as you. My BTO was due for delivery 21Aug then it changed to 19th. Now it has shipped from Ireland and is due for delivery tomorrow Thursday 13th. Fantastic.

When did your Mac ship from Ireland? I’m almost the same as you but mine isn’t arriving until Monday the 17th.

The UPS tracking data says it departed Cork on 11th August @22.00hrs. Arrived in the UK this evening at 7pm. Delivery due tomorrow before end of day. Looking forward to it.

Does anyone know how long these new iMacs are sitting in 'preparing for shipping'? Mine just switch to that status this morning, but est. arrival still says Sept 1-9th. Saw that my card was charged now for the computer.

Mine was only in that stage for about 24 hours. Then showed "Shipped" with tracking #.

Ordered on the 6th, still sat at "Processing". 10 core i9, 1TB, 5500XT, Trackpad. Any one with similar specs/order date still sitting there?

For some reason my bank kept getting my payment stuck so after 3 attempts APPARENTLY we're all good to go. Here's hoping it is coming from Ireland (not too far from Scotland!).

I don’t see any pattern or logic to this shipping madness. The CPU, SSD, GPU, nor the 10G port makes any differences. I bet mine will just show up at the door tomorrow without warning. Not.

Another data point for those of you tracking BTO iMacs via FedEx from Shanghai to the US: Mine has arrived in Memphis, only a 45 minute drive away! That "International Shipment Release" is a good sign. Perhaps my iMac will show up tomorrow instead of Friday?

Also an order from the 6th — 10-core/5700XT 16 GB/VESA/Gigabit — still processing. I’m just assuming the VESA option will take more time.

My bigger question is if my desk or my iMac will arrive first. If it’s the iMac, I’m going to have to emergency order a stand off of Amazon since the arm I ordered won’t work on my current desk.
