Yup, found it.

Merom - 35W
2.1GHz G5 (The one found in iMacs, 970FX) - <55W
Conroe (Mac Pro?) - 65W
Conroe XE (Mac Pro?) - 95W
Woodcrest (Mac Pro?) - 80W
Dual-core G5s (970MP) - <100W

Wow, so getting Conroe in there might be a bigger challenge than I originally thought.

Whatever it takes, they will do it. See post #48.

With a TDP of 65 watts, I'm doubting that Conroe will see the inside of an iMac. The G5's 55 watts caused the fans to be on a lot, and now that people have seen what a quiet iMac is like, I doubt they will want to go to an airplane again. It seems to me like Merom is the best contender for a spot in the iMac.

Whatever it takes? Well if Apple had that attitude, why no PowerBook G5? The way I see it now is Merom is going in, Conroe would be a nice bonus, although it could make for some noisier iMacs.

See post 48. They have no other choice.

What're you smoking? They have MEROM, and in this case, Merom is a BETTER choice than Conroe.

Merom is going in the Mac Mini, because they can't keep any of their computers 32-bit.

Can the iMac have the same CPU as the Mac Mini? No.

The iMac is a desktop machine, it will get Conroe.

And what about the Mac Pro? Those are Getting woodcrest for sure, so that basically ensures that the iMac uses Conroe, unless they wanna skip it alltogether.

Why can't they keep 32-bit?

The iMac has the same CPU as the Mac Mini right now.

Conroe has a higher TDP than any processor that has been in the iMac.

What about the Mac Pro? It will get woodcrest, obviously. And I personally believe that it will get a Conroe on the low end. Apple doesn't have to use Conroe, and Apple's line right now doesn't have a place for it.

So this confirms my belief that the iMac is a piece of ****.

It uses a Laptop CPU. What kind of a desktop uses a Laptop's CPU?????

So what the iMac doesn't have the same chip as the Mini now?

And what's this the iMac is a desktop machine? And the Mini is too! :D

Now I'm not saying that it won't 100% happen, but the odds are against Conroe coming to the iMac.

Well from the fact that it doesn't even need Vista to run, I'll say yes it will.

Microsoft Q&A said:
Q: What type of computer hardware will I need to run “Flight Simulator X”?
A: While we are still determining exact hardware requirements, we do know that it will run on a wide range of configurations because we want to make “Flight Simulator X” accessible to a wide range of fans.

If they want it to be available to a wide range of fans, the X1600 (present in the current iMac CD) would easily be capable of playing it.

Yes im sure the x1600 would run Flight Sim X, but i want to be able to run the rates very high. I hope that Apple include a card like the x1900XTX or something. The thing is, to run FSX at full rates you need a Direct X 10 card and it would be interesting to see if Apple make a DX10 card an optional extra?

Hold on I'm being confused here :p

By full rates do you mean full "frame rates" because I really doubt you'll need more than 24fps in a game like this. Or do you mean pumping up all the settings?

And I hope your joking about the X1900XTX in an iMac. That's a $500/£350 graphics card, which is one of the fastest consumer cards around. And no ATI DX10 graphics cards are even near completion yet, and when they are released it's likely it'll cost a LOT.

Well, by time Flight Sim X is ready to be released the iMac may have something like an X1600 XT, which is considerably better than the current X1600.

Sorry let me set the record straight.

When i mean full rates i mean graphics set on full.

And when i said x1900xtx, i forgot to say for the MacPro.

sorry my mistake.

Ohh :D No problem. It's very likely that Apple will release a high-end graphics card for the Mac Pro. Whether it's the NVIDIA 7900 GTX or the ATI X1900XTX, they'll both be capable of playing FSX at very high settings (as much as DX9 allows). If you really want to push it to DX10 (even though I've remembered you said your not a hard-core gamer) we'll have to wait for solid news on the new chips :)

I'm sure at some point they'll release DX10 cards for the MacPro.

I think i may wait for the Intel Desktop and then decide what woud be best for me.....either throw £1500 at my pc or spend £1900 on the MacPro.

Being able to run OSX would be a major plus!
