This is a good idea. I logged in with my other Apple ID, the one I use for iTunes purchases, and it worked right away. I did update the T&C for my other one, it let me download apps after doing it.

i'm having the exact same issue. I bought a new iPad Mini 4, and thats when it started. I can't log into any device with my iCloud account for iMessage or FaceTime (that includes my computers). Going on 4 Days now without any fix.
It is working, just like always. I guess this is fine, I'll just leave it. I have for years used my @mac.com, but now it's working with my @gmail.com. I guess since I can use my phone number for everything now, I can use it from my new ipad now too, I'll just leave it with this Apple ID.
I think I'll download my photos to my MB too, then I'll probably start over with my other Apple ID so I only have one to deal with.
Thanks for all the help, I'm still curious as to the issue with my @mac.com ID. But I guess it really doesn't matter since this way works just as good. Hopefully if anyone tries to send me an iMessage to @mac.com they should get a message that it wasn't delivered.
This seems like a "authenticity" problem, somewhere on the iCloud, Apple ID end. Is it letting you download apps? If so then the t&c should be updated and the account shouldn't be "locked" I do no that when I had to update my payment methods my iMessage wasn't working til I did so, tho that was a long time ago

Yeah, apps are downloading fine. I guess I'll leave it as is for now and give Apple some time to figure this one out. Thanks again.
oh it definitely is. When I try to log into FaceTime on my mac, I get this error.

Could be try taking the sim out of one, or using a different sim. Some phone company's do faulty rhings like that
I thought about it, but I sold my iPad Air 2 and want to give that guy a good SIM with it. Plus it's all packaged up and ready to ship anyway, so just to test I'm not sure I want to now that it's working with the other Apple ID.
I doubt it has anything to do with the sim. At least in my case because it happens when I try to login to my iCloud account with FaceTime/iMessage on all three of my Apple Computers.
True, but when it started for you was it after activating a new SIM that came with your iPad mini 4? Or is your wifi only?
So now I just went to my Photos and it asked if I wanted to use iCloud Photo Library. I clicked yes and all my photos were removed from my ipad

So the tier 2 apple care support tech, just got back to me. and has opened a request for my situation. will let you know what happens.

I can tell you the Apple Store won't be able to do anything. They don't have access to the back end of the iCloud/Apple ID system. You'll need to open a ticket with AppleCare Phone Support so they can contact engineering.
