What I mean by this is that when you send a message, rather than it 'attempting' to send until it fails (and you get a notification), it should just queue up and send the moment you connect to wifi or cellular.

on WhatsApp when you send a message and you're not connected to the internet, it shows a little clock and that changes once it hits the internet.

or at least give us the option for this

Unless this is in iOS 12 (haven't installed the beta)

I agree with this idea. Every time I get in my elevator, I temporarily lose internet connection, so I wait before sending messages. It would be nice to be able to send a message and know that it will automatically get sent the moment I reconnect.

It dosnt because when setup correctly it falls back to sms

But what if I don’t have cell signal? Say I’m in another country and rely on sending messages via wifi. It would be nice to type out my responses to queue up the responses once I get a connection.

That’s why WhatsApp’s way better than iMessage... :
Higher quality Voice message
Quotes
Profile status : online, writting...
Etc.

It really is a superior messaging service but I don’t like having a bunch of messaging apps. I wanna communicate on 1 app

How can you communicate with iMessage when it is proprietary and is sub-standard when the other side doesn't have iPhone?

Kind of sucks for android.
But most of the world that use imessage don’t really find it sub standard.

And that "world" is a pretty small world with less than 20% of the people. But hey, if you are fine living in this "world"...knock yourself out :)

And large portion of the world doesn’t have any smartphones. what’s your point.
Should I not use a smartphone because of them.

Still more than 450 million daily active users for what’s app. I’m pretty sure there are a bunch of iMessage users in there.

Sucks for android.

Suck for iPhone users too due to discriminatory iMessage where downgraded info is sent to non-iphone user. Sure is a good way to alienate your friends. :p

In other countries, sure. Try convincing anyone in the US to use a third party app owned by Facebook to send and receive private messages. Different solutions for different regions are fine.
You don’t think anyone in the US uses WhatsApp? Anyway, it’s end to end encrypted.

The web client really makes WhatsApp shine imo, it’d be great if Apple did that for iMessage.

Not really.
iPhone users can download any messaging app if the wanted to.

Android users cannot download iMessage.

Why would I alienate friends without an iPhone, you can still call, but they all have iPhones now guess Apple is doing something right.

But didn't some iPhone fans keep insisting iMessage or nothing. So you alienate others by sending downgraded photos via mms.

Only thing iMessage does better than WhatsApp at the moment is the rich notifications where you can see the iMessage thread from your lock screen as you’re replying to it. If whatsapp implement that I’d be totally sold.

And reactions. Being in a family group where people send cute pics of their kids all the time and you just want to hit a like button instead of think of a novel phrase no one else as used yet... that makes me wish WhatsApp had that iMessage feature

iMessage is pretty basic. It does what it's supposed to do very well but that's it.

It would be nice that if when a message can't be sent, you can stop/cancel it. Doesn't always work for me.
