I am using this on my home network and am very impressed, all is working well. It accesses all my movies via a Plex server, I am guessing it doesn't need to transcode anything. I would also like to be able to access my movies when at my holiday home - I have a static IP at home so is it possible to access the Plex server remotely and play my films? I did check your website and that made references to Airport base stations etc but I was unsure how to proceed for my particular case...

Infuse is able to stream from Plex on your local network, as well as remotely (once remote access in Plex has been set up).

The one caveat is since content is streamed in its original quality without transcoding, some content may not be accessible if your internet connection isn't great. We will be adding options to enable transcoding from Plex in a future update, which should help when streaming in areas with variable network conditions.

Infuse 5.8.4 with a heap of fixes and improvements is now available.

Enjoy! :)

Is it possible to make list or folder view less sparse ?

For example:
- List view with last changed time or size based on the sort type
- More horizontal space for file names
- Less white space between file or folder names
- Landscape thumbnails, but a bit smaller

Thanks for the feedback. We'll see what we can do.

Another suggestion:

Sorting should be a folder by folder setting, not a global setting.
For example, I want my "TV Shows" folder to be sorted by release date, my "Movies" folder to be sorted by date added, and my "Workouts" folder to be sorted alphabetically by name.

I've been a fan of Infuse on iPad for a few years now. Just recently bought an Apple TV and was thrilled to try out Infuse there. It was the first app I installed, and it works flawlessly with Plex. Nice work!

Now, when do we get a MacOS version...? ;)

Been asking for Random/Shuffle play mode since I bought the app almost 2 years back, and still nowhere in sight. So disappointed...

Infuse without Atmos or DTS passthrough is practically dead fish at 40000 ft altitude.
I felt like I wasted my money for just pretty interface with limited functionality. I am over to Kodi on Shield TV. The only thing I miss is the pretty UI but I spend more time watching actual movies than admiring UI.

Serious Suggestion to Infuse devs: Port Infuse to Android TV and get on with life.

We've started a campaign (https://firecore.com/forum/topic/20983) which we hope will encourage Apple to add more flexible audio options on the Apple TV, which would allow for things like Atmos in Infuse. This is similar to the campaign we started in 2016 with regard to 24p frame rate switching, which ultimately ended up with Apple adding that feature in tvOS 11.

If enough people reach out to Apple then it may lead to changes that would benefit Infuse and other apps. #fingerscrossed

Yes. 24p frame rate switching actually helps Apple themselves to play content. But HD audio passthrough will not be allowed because Apple sees it as a competition to their existing streaming services.

Please think hard about porting Infuse to Android. Have web based authentication to prevent piracy.

The Apple TV also correctly switches colour space automatically. I got fed up having to manually switch video modes in the option screen every time I switched between 1080p and ultra HD content on the shield tv

I am not having this issue on Shield TV latest version.

I am not having this issue on Shield TV latest version.

It’s a known limitation of the device and affects all users. It will switch resolution, framerate and dynamic range but will not switch between Rec 709 and Rec 2020. Essentially this means that if you have it set to watch HD material and watch 4k stuff, it will switch to HDR but won’t use the wide colour gamut so colours will be inaccurate. The reverse is also true.

Hello there

I was asked to post my questions here.

So one is remaining: is it possible to play 23.976 Hz files without stutter?

Having struggled with the frankly awful version of Plex for the ATV for a while, I finally bought Infuse Pro a few days ago and what can I say, I am blown away by it. It plays EVERYTHING. No more rolling the dice to see if Plex will a) attempt to transcode (and often fail, as it's running on my NAS), b) give me an endless spinning buffering circle of death, or c) actually play the damn file as it should. So far Infuse has simply played everything without issue. It's been a revelation. It's also nicely picked up my Plex server and is displaying the nice Plex metadata and artwork without issue.

If I had to nit pick, I would like to see Plex Collections working. I like a nice neat media library, so I use lots of tags. Plex detects these and puts things in folders. Infuse doesn't do this and so dumps all my movies in the root. Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have. I'd also like a dark mode, as I'm really not a fan of white Apple TV apps, given that the ATV is a home cinema device.

Yes, Infuse will automatically switch the video output to match the video being played to give you perfect playback.

Just be sure to enable the Match Content options as described here.

So glad to hear you're enjoying it so far!

Infuse does actually feature a dark mode, and will follow the settings you have enabled for the Apple TV itself. More info on enabling dark mode can be found here. https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/apple/dark-mode-apple-tv-3670702/

Plex collections is planned for an upcoming version. ;)

Thanks for your prompt answer. Just a bit worried about dropping frames, I often get sensible to that and it appears it has a name judder/stutter. I was still investigating about the Apple TV 4K and I found this discussion on Infuse forum: https://firecore.com/forum/topic/20111

What are your thoughts on this?

What are your thoughts on this?
For simplicity, 23.976 Hz is usually referred to as 24p. This is what most film based content is mastered in, and is supported on the Apple TV.

24.000 Hz output is not supported on the Apple TV at this time, but this type of content is rather rare.

Is this a TV problem, then? I think my TV displays only 24p and not 23.976, right?
Most modern TVs support both 23.976 and 24.000...but they generally group them both together in the specs and simply say 24p. Many TVs also support extracting a 24Hz signal embedded inside of 60Hz.

Some more info on this, as well as a judder test you can try on your own (if you are so inclined) can be found here. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/motion/24p

Rtings also has some great info on pretty much every TV released in the last 3-4 years, including recommendations on picture settings for various models.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, rtings hasn't test my TV, yet but it should soon as I guess as it's coming to Canada. I'll try tonight their tests files. On flatpanelHD looks like my TV can play 23.976, let's see.

Infuse 5.9 is available today, and includes some great new things.

Clouds, clouds, clouds
Cloud streaming has been totally revamped in 5.9. We've added support for Box, Google Team Drives, and OneDrive for Business along with a massive dose of reliability and speed to allow things to work better than ever before.

AirPlay 2 has arrived
Infuse on Apple TV now features full support for AirPlay 2 and HomePods. Seamlessly connects with one or more AirPlay devices right from the Audio tab of the Playback Menu while playing a video.
