Today we are excited to announce the release of Infuse 8 for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac...and Vision!

Infuse 8 features an all-new app for Apple Vision Pro, fresh new designs for all devices, revamped app internals, new player controls, and many other exciting new changes.

Apple Vision Pro

Infuse 8 includes a brand-new, fully native app for Apple Vision Pro! Vision users can now enjoy the full array of Infuse powerful features available on other devices on a massive virtual screen. Additional Vision-specific features such as 3D video and immersive environments are in progress and will be available soon.

Refreshed layout and designs

Fresh new designs are now available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac. These updates blend an inspiring new layout with the minimalistic nature of Infuse that you have come to know and love for a great balance of style and usability. Note: On Apple TV, the New layout can be enabled by adjusting the ‘Details View’ option found in Infuse > Settings > General.

All-new modern infrastructure

Lots of things have changed since Infuse was first released in 2013. Libraries which used to consist of only a handful of small files can now easily extend to tens of thousands of massive 4K videos. We took a big step towards handling these larger libraries with the addition of Direct Mode earlier this year and 8.0 builds on that same focus with an entirely revamped browsing infrastructure. This provides significantly better app performance and faster loading of lists and items on the home screen - especially for those with larger libraries or multiple servers.

New player controls

The new playback overlay features a contemporary design and has been fine-tuned to provide easy access to commonly used options such as audio/subtitle track selection, volume boost, and playback speed.

Optimized for the latest devices

Along with improvements for the latest versions of Apple’s software, optimizations for the newest devices - such as the new iPhone 16 models - have also been added. This allows your library and artwork to appear beautifully just like you have come to expect from Infuse.

Upgrade for free! 🎉

Infuse 8 is a free automatic update for all Infuse 7 users - and is waiting for you in the App Store right now!

The all-new Vision app is available as a free download on the Vision App Store and all active Pro subscriptions can be used and shared with family members without having to make any additional purchases. 🙌

Those running older legacy versions (Infuse v4, v5, and v6) can get a free year of Infuse Pro when upgrading to Infuse 8.

Thanks!

We’re super-excited about the release of Infuse 8 and we really hope you enjoy using it as much as we do.

We always love hearing your comments, feedback, and suggestions—so please feel free to continue the conversation below or in our community forum.

Thanks so much for using Infuse! 🧡

I use Nvidia Shield TV (pro). I mention this as I was wondering how well does Apple TV hold up in comparison to the latter. 90 percent of what I watch are my own archived files that are 1080p and UHD. What makes the Nvidia for me is very good upscaling of 1080p to 4k. How does the Apple counterpart do in comparison? Any other thoughts most welcome. If I were to have Apple TV, I would be looking at Infuse as the tool to watch my movies.

Infuse Pro cannot pass lossless Atmos or DTS:X, only multichannel PCM unless things have changed since I last tried Atmos tracks with Infuse.

I've compared AppleTV upscaling to my Zidoo z9x and LG C3 and all 3 are quite good. It's difficult to see much difference without stopping the movie to do a frame-by-frame comparison. I only have a Shield 2017 and the Shield does well too.

With the new updates, the icons for presenting movies or shows have been reduced in size.

Would it be possible to have a setting to choose between big or small?

I understand it’s for people with large libraries but I tend to delete everything after I watch. So I only keep 2 or 3 shows.

Infuse 8.0.1 is now available with a handful of fixes and improvements.

I think the TV Show folder controls are still a regression from how it used to be months or a year ago. There used to be a way to shuffle an entire TV Show folder. There used to be a way to mark an entire TV Show as watched or unwatched. Now, you can only do these things by season rather for an entire show at once. I like the improvements, but it's a bit frustrating that basic features were taken out at some point and never put back.

After the last update I seem to have an issue accesing WebDAV shares. It takes very very long to open/access those shares (3-5 minutes).
I tried other applications but only with Infuse I have this issue.

Is it coming in the next update? I love the “new” view, it takes the whole screen, it’s awesome.
Yes, changes will be available soon in 8.0.2.

If you are browsing directly via folders you may consider disabling the Smart Folders feature. This can allow for much faster opening of folders while browsing.

More info on what this feature is and how to turn it on/off can be found in this guide.

Nope, not using "Smart Folders". The problem is when accessing the Share for the first time after launching the app. It takes very long and sometimes even times out. After that the folders under the share open instatntly.
Unfortunately I tested WebDAV shares with two different NAS boxes and I have the same issue on both and ONLY when using Infuse.
SMB on the other hand works fine...

Is the device going into some sort of sleep/standby mode? If so, there may be a delay before the device wakes up and is available for Infuse to access.

To speed this up you can try adding the MAC address for the device to Infuse. With this entered in the share's settings Infuse will be able to use a feature called Wake-on-LAN (WoL) which can allow the device to wake up much faster.

Note: Your device will have a MAC address for each network controller (EG Wi-Fi vs Ethernet) so you'll want to pick the one that is most typically used. More info on the WoL feature

I will give a try but it seems strange that this happened with v8.0.
Nothing else changed with my infrastracture or devices... and I was using Infuse since version 5
