Where does it say it's a prerequisite? Once they release it OTA I will screenshot the watch app and my current phone version to demonstrate.

The only time an iOS is a prerequisite is on a major version change. So watch OS 3 beta required iOS 10 beta. But every update since hasn't required the iOS update prior.

You are telling me that you do not see watchOS beta 4 OTA right now. Correct? Well you are currently on iOS beta 3, right? That means your iPhone needs to be updated. When I ran wackos 2 betas last year. I needed the parallel update installed on my iPhone first before it would show the watch update.

Protip: If you update to beta 4 via iTunes, remove the Dev Profile from your Settigns, as it will start downloading beta 3 again on software update.

I think that right there is enough proof we won't get a B4 OTA.

Can one get the beta from the dev center (not OTA) with just the beta profile on the phone?

In other words, without a developer account.

Well every beta since iOS 10 and Watch OS 3 were released. The watch has shown up BEFORE I have updated the phone.

Like I said if it gets released OTA I will screenshot to show you.

No, you need a dev center account. ($99 a year).

I am convinced this is the final beta and is the public release.

If you have the .ipsw then yes it will work.

I think he was asking can you get it from the dev center by having the profile installed. Like if you need an actual dev account.

Maybe I misunderstood.

To your other post. If there is a B4 OTA, which seems unlikely now, please post a screenshot of it with the watch because iOS9/watchOS 2 required the iOS to be installed first.

I clearly stated that every major shift OS 2, OS 3 required the corresponding iOS. However the 2.x and 3.x release do not require the corresponding 9.x and 10.x betas

Here you go. I still had these from beta 10.2 beta 1 and watchOS 3.1.1 Beta 1. Look at the times at the top of the screenshot.

Yup, that's what I meant. Thanks!

Based on the Known Issues in the notes, I don't think this is the final release. At least I hope not!

There may be a good reason this release isn't available OTA.

Maybe there's a possible bug that will render the phone inoperative and require a DFU restore? In that case Apple would only want people who are able to update from iTunes to install this release, so they can revert if it kills the phone.

Either way, I recommend sitting this one out until the public beta or until we're fairly sure there aren't any big problems.

I doubt that they would even release the beta at all if that were an issue..

I'm sure we'll see OTA start popping up soon, if not by tomorrow when the Public Beta lands. I can't remember the last time they had a Public Beta that was iTunes only.

If they had to do some low level firmware patching and aren't 100% confident that there aren't any showstopper bugs, they might do this in an attempt to find any showstoppers.

Developers tend to be more knowledgable and able to deal with these issues. Apple KNOWS there's a lot of non-devs with the dev beta profile installed. They don't want to brick these people's phones.
