I just keep the usual things turned off: Locations, Background app refresh, Raise to wake, auto-brightness.

I also keep WiFi shut off, unless I am using the phone for internet purposes. That slows down the battery drain tremendously, but I understand not everyone can do that. Searching for a signal does cause a hit to the battery on my Verizon 7+. I am getting about 7.5 - 10 hours depending on my usage, which is a lot more than than my first two 7+ got.

I do wish Apple would optimize more though.
You are saying simply having WiFi enabled on your device is causing noticeable battery usage?

Any place but here or there....

Yes, especially at work. Our signal reception is very poor (no windows, office in the middle of the floor rather than along the sides), so keeping the WiFi engaged does produce a hit.

Cellular is even worse. I cannot get a signal from my office (if I'm lucky 2 out of 5, but mostly 1 or 1x when on LTE. I always have to shift to WiFi which I dislike doing.) I'd rather my work not know that I am on their WiFi, but that cannot be helped given how poor the cellular reception is.

In the past, turning on/off Airplane controls for a minute before engaging LTE really helped with the reception for a few hours. It does not now.

If there is some way to improve WiFi and cellular reception without exchanging this phone, I'm all ears.

For the record I generally use: mail, safari, notes, calendar, tv, Photos, Pixelmator, Word and iMessage. Not all at the same time.

The best battery life I get is AP + Wifi Calling. Next is cellular + WiFi Calling. Lastly its straight cellular being the worst.

I tried Cellular + wifi calling , battery drained 22% instead of 30+ , netxt night i will try AP + wifi calling , those are good solutions , but apple should think better to optimise ios 10 , on ios 8 or 9 i didnt need to take measures for battery life , the carrier didnt drained the battery like on ios 10 .

So at least it proves that WiFi Calling can actually save battery compared to cellular only. Thanks for the test results! Hopefully you find a solution that works for you!

My wife iPhone 6 was having huge battery drain. But after 24 hours it seems fine. Maybe it was doing something in the background with the new file system.

@Mlrollin91 : I found the best solution , i enabled 4G on mobile only for Data , and disabled 4G on Voice , as it seems in my location is a square that can do only 3g+ so thats why the battery drains overnight at home and when i'm in city i got normal use and no drain . This sould be a fix for everyone who got drain on ios 10.2.1-10.3.1 and live in poor signal areas .

Interesting, please let me know the results of this. It may take a few days to compile information.

I can say for sure that my problem dissapeared , 4G disabled on voice , enabled only on data . It drained 0% over 8.5 hours (overnight ) . This should be an advice for everyone living in lower<4G signal . Thanks Mlrollin91 for all your support , my battery now it's back to normal , i will post an 1% usage schematics to prove :D

Fantastic to hear! So WiFi Calling decreased some drain, but disabling 4G voice completely eliminated the drain. Too bad I have only 1 bar of 3G/4G/LTE at school, so that won't work for me there. But I will give it a go at home! Thanks!

I'll have my phone charged to 100% at 5pm and it'll be dead by 9pm.

I've never experienced battery drain like this before!
Yep exactly like mine. About 4-5 hours then gone.

One thing that is seeming to happen is it will charge to 63/64% very quickly however getting past that point takes forever

ios10 period has been a battery life murderer for me but 10.3.1 seems like it brought it back to where it was on ios9. Last night I was at 8h12m with 18% left and 6-7 hours has been the average.

Not only battery life is worse for me but the phone is warmer to the touch. This never happened in iOS 10.3 and before. I hope that iOS 10.3.2 will bring things back to normal (iPhone SE).

Updated my iPhone 7+ yesterday to IOS 10.3.1 and the battery is draining terribly fast. Even when plugged in to my laptop to charge, it goes down when I use it... I hope it is still indexing or something like that (though hard to believe since the update was more than 12 hours ago), I hope this will be fixed soon!

Have you tried restarting?

Ok, that is really bad now.
Fully charged phone when down to 89% in 20 minutes and all I did was read emails and browse Facebook. Something is terribly wrong :(
Is there a way to roll back this terrible IOS update??

My 7+ is experiences significant battery drain since updating about 2-3 days ago.

Today I ran it down to 0% and then charged non-stop in Airplane mode, charge was about normal ~3 hours. I am losing 10% every 2 hours, both in and not in Airplane mode, with zero actual use, just sitting there with every app closed. Apple claims they are not aware of this issue, and said my charging cable must have stopped working the same day I updated to 10.3.

One thing which looks like it helped my batter life: I updated my most used apps this morning, maybe they did have some conflicts with the new IOS resulting in this battery drain. It looks better now but I am not 100% sure yet.

What does settings/battery usage say is using it?

Battery Usage doesn't show anything. Battery Life to 0% was less than 14 hours, that included 2 short phone calls, a handful of texts, and the only apps open where Clock, Settings, Phone, Messages. The Battery page showed less than 1 hour of actual use (which includes when it was unused but the screen was on).
