That's a little ridiculous. They both have squares but otherwise look NOTHING alike. With that logic the last major iTunes refresh (I think 11? Maybe 10?) Should have reminded you of it because of the squares of album art. This is a MAJOR stretch.

I didn't say it was a perfect match, just that it reminded me heavily of it. To be honest, I actually kinda liked the way iTunes was headed with the album art and the songs listed underneath.

You don't have to agree with me, but I'm stating it like I see it. To me, they look very visually similar. The fonts are different and the Zune used all caps and are displayed horizontally rather than vertically.

However the point still stands: they are using a larger word to use fit what it is you are looking at overall : Library
Followed up by smaller words that do open up into different categories as a smaller less bold font right below the title.

Album art is album art, it's all square, so that wasn't really what I was looking at as closely, but m the text is, because it takes up 50 percent of the screen. That is actually one of my biggest complaints about the YouTube app as well, that stupid red bar across a bunch of screen real estate that could be used more efficiently.

I love Apple, but I do believe that they may have lost their way a bit in design language as they keep meandering around trying new things frequently, changing design for the sake of changing it. There used to be a consistent design across their apps, and while I realize this is beta, there isn't really much design consistency in iOS 10.

Do not like the way lock-screen notifications look now (at least based on pics; I'm not using iOS 10 yet). Reminds me of Android, where they are quite ugly (...and I'm not an Android hater in general). One of my favorite design aspects of current iOS is the refined, minimal look of the lock-screen notifications.

I’m starting to get used to the new design in Music but the body text could be smaller and respect what we choose in Text Size setting. I don’t mind the big Library or Browse.

What I dont like is when a company do changes just for changes. Notification centre didn't need to be changed, it worked fine like it was. It was part of the original design of the redesign on iOS 7. Now, not only the new notification center dont look great, its also look completely out of place with the rest of the whole OS. Same thing with the new control center.

Apple music just become another blindly all in white app now. The iOS 9 version is way more dynamic with different colors and all.
And in the opinion of others all those places could use some updates.

For those who hate the new OS, you either stay on iOS 9 as long as you can, and then complain about not being able to have the updates you want, or you can move to Android.

Granted, I don't think the new OS is perfect. At the same time, I think Apple is doing a pretty good job of trying to meet the needs of various segments of users, not just those who visit MR every day complaining that Apple isn't doing what member(s) x, y, and z think they should do all the time.

With all the constant griping by a lot of the same people, it is amazing how most continue on using said products that they claim to hate, or think are moving in a terrible direction.

I really like the design of iOS 10. Its kinda going back to the pre-iOS 7 days and adding more depth to the UI whilst still sticking to the overall minimalist look introduced in iOS 7. The music app is a different story though. I really don't like it.

I'm digging the iOS 10 design as well. The new widgets/notifications remind me of little OS X (macOS) windows. Not quite identical but very similar, but with more rounded corners that match the rounded corners of iOS icons. Ties in much better as a whole IMO.

Music app I'm sure will see a lot of tweaks and improvements in the next 2-3 builds.

those big ass bubbles everywhere tho ... might as well not even bother calling them "banners" anymore.

Notification Center or whats left of it seems cluttered and looks hideous. not so much "at a glance" anymore

I love how these bubbles are also very conspicuous with their bright vibrancy style. Many people begged Apple to introduce a dark mode and then they introduced even more brightness and clutter to it. Even if you choose a dark background to balance it, it doesn't look good.

I love the new look as its starting to undo some of the damage done with the iOS7 change. The new notifications, widgets and Control Centre look great.

Watching this overview video
and I find myself really excited and looking forward to the iOS10 release. The iPad lock screen looks so good!

The only dislikes I have is the new Messages features aimed at children, and I'm still unsure about the Music app redesign (what's with the iOS7-9 style blurred tab/toolbar thing at the bottom of the iPad version? Looks terrible!)

CC on iPad Pro 12.9".
They really don't know how to make use of iPad space. I get that you don't want things to be too busy, but there seems to be a lot wrong here. Some of it has been a problem for a while, and extends to iPhone too.

The Control Center 'card' doesn't span the full width, and even with that, the small number of buttons they've allowed on that one card still aren't enough to fill the space, so they create huge buttons For Airdrop, Airplay, Timer and Camera, next to tiny toggles. Whyy??? Why not add more functional buttons, make them all more consistently sized?

Or why not make the control center taller so you can see all the audio and homekit features without swiping? So weird.

I really like it, generally. I do think it needs some tweaking, which will hopefully happen over the beta. Hate music.app, the only part that has no redeeming qualities.

I like the look of the widgets, I just think they need to be a bit... smoother? I don't know, it's just VERY in your face at the moment. Doesn't feel like a fluid part of the OS. Maybe decrease transparency a little bit?

Very well said! Bravo . After watching the keynote I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed and disappointed but after using the beta now I actually really like it.
