This thread isn't about Siri. iOS 10 is way better than iOS 9.

Well considering that iOS10 was supposed to drastically improve Siri (not just expand its functionality to third party apps) then Siri is very relevant. It's absolute crap compared to the competition and anyone who has picked up a device with Google Now or Cortana knows this.

I haven't noticed as I never use Siri. In my opinion, I think it's weird to speak out loud to an inanimate objects. I'd rather control my device with my hands silently so I'm not disrupting other people.

Some people use their phones or tablets in their personal residences (or in other places where a normal speaking voice is not disruptive to others). Imagine that.

Unfortunately, I've just had to accept that iOS has bugs, visual glitches, and stutters since the release of iOS 7. Sucks, but it's the truth.

10 is more promising and polished than 7, 8, and 9 already at this beta stage.

iOS and pretty much every OS will always have those because it's impossible to have a perfect OS that suffers from absolutely nothing. Get your head out of the sand.

Very encouraging to know! Thank you!

Did you ever use iOS 6? Though by now it is years old and outdated, that was darn-near the most perfect mobile OS ever made. Period. I'm only holding Apple to the standard that they themselves previously set.

Yes, I used to jailbreak on iPhone 3G when it was iPhone OS 2 & 3, before it was even called iOS. I've used every version except iPhone OS 1 (because Canada didn't get the iPhone until the 3G, which shipped with iPhone OS 2)

Apple used to be so picky when it came to presentation and they used to make sure everything was very polished and mostly glitch-free. That's not the case anymore from what I've seen lately.

I will admit, Apple hasn't always been perfect, but they used to be better. They used to care about the small little details, now it just feels like "Hurry! Slap some new features on there and ship it!!!" instead of paying close attention to the minor details that make the system feel polished and finished. These days, it just seems like we're simply using a work-in-progress rather than a finished OS.

In my experience with iOS 9, with each update... some stuff got better, but other stuff got worse. It seems like Apple was better off before they offered public betas.

Oh wow! You've used iOS far longer than me. Do you feel that the base standard of quality has dropped since iOS 7?

I have to fully agree. Although iOS 9 wasn't that bad since I've had an iPhone 6s, I think iOS 10 does bring the needed optimizations. It's a pretty major difference, even on the iPhone 6s. Slightly quicker opening of apps and folders, less stuttering, no stutters at all after reboot when opening an app, folder, Spotlight, Control Center of Notification Center. That happened to much with iOS 9.

I love iOS 10 already. Been using it from beta 1 on my main device. Most people wouldn't take that risk, but I've done that since iOS 5 beta. Even iOS 8 on the iPhone 4s, which by the way was the worst experience I've ever had. But I never regret taking risks to try out new features. Especially now with iOS 10. It feels like a stable release. Not just with beta 6/7, but even with beta 3/4 already. There were some crashes, but most of the stutters were gone already, and apps launched quick enough.

They finally show the real Apple here. I hope it's not just for now, but that they will make iOS 11 such a great release as well. Believe me, this will attract more customers. I know people who actually replaced their iPhone by an Android phone because of those issues every time and lack of good features. Then I told them iOS 10, and showed them the best features. Some of them are already looking forward to the next iPhone, just because of iOS 10. I think that does say something, doesn't it?

Give it some time. This OS will get released and we will have threads saying how iOS 9.3.4 was so much better than iOS 10 and how Apple is crippling devices. Then certain posters will show up, post videos with small amounts of lag, and then go back to the Alternative forums they came from.

Get off the kool-aid bro.

“The ios6 is a joke.... Apple keep saying there is no problem with the ios6, I have lost hundreds of photos , music games apps films worth a total of £100 and they are doing nothing..... They keep saying to me that they need an order number, but there isn't an order number as they and not in my history.... Am now been told that I haven't been billed for things .... They are a f**king joke.... I have tried resting and downloading from the iCloud which isn't working ... Tried uninstalling apps.... Not working.... They don't seem to be bothered about there problem with the ios6...... Time to move away from apple all together”
-Leighton82

“The problem is not Ios 6 but with the new apple corporate culture. Ios 6 is a total disaster that exposed apples willingness to handcuff users to an irreversible and often terminal download that has destroyed many iphones and ipads with Battery drain{ 3 hour battery life} , bluetooth problems, locations services problems, and hazard to navigation apple maps. A few minutes spent on Apple Support groups reveals multitudes of astonished loyal apple users being disabused and lied to at every level of Apple Support. Every new system has problems but Apple failure to be transparent about these problems and failure allow users to return to a functional operating system is a new low in corporate corruption.”
-JayStarr22

Every year these members bash the newer OS with their selective memories of the old. It the same crap every single year...

I wouldn't say I'm on the Kool Aid bro. Quite the opposite. I'm just holding Apple to the standard that THEY set prior to now.

Everybody has different experiences, but I personally never had an issue with iOS 6. It was incredible! iOS 7 was a disaster. 8 and 9 were okay. But the level of polish is not up to what it used to be with iOS 6.

iOS 10 feels and acts like android now, if I wanted to feel like a welfare bum everytime I use my phone I'd actually buy an android device.

What's this about iOS 10 and Android now? And some other overgeneralized stereotypes?

Would "iOS 11 is the OS that iOS 10 promised to be..." pop up again next year?

Yeah, I dodn't get this. You always get people saying stuff like this. iOS 10 is what iOS 9 should have been, Apple Watch 2 is what Apple Watch one should have been, iPhone 6S is what iPhone 6 should have been, iPad Air 2 is what iPad should have been, and of course the current version should be what the future versions are going to be.

iOS 10 is not promising better performance like iOS 9 did. So far, everything we're seeing in iOS 10 is what they advertised it to be.

iOS 9 specifically stated that Metal would bring smoother scrolling and app performance, but that's not what we got. We got lags and frame drops everywhere. Then, instead of getting better, it got worse in some areas and better in some areas, but it still wasn't up to par with iOS 8.

Also, the addition of input lag really brought it down a few notches from iOS 8. It makes it hard to do anything with any sort of speed, if you have to wait for the animation to be completely settled down before making another tap. I'm not talking about tapping mid-animation, but sometimes it will look like the animation has finished, but it really hasn't and it will ignore your first tap. iOS 10 still does this in a lot of areas, but at least the animations are faster and smoother now.
My experience with the iOS 9 beta was that it was really very fast and smooth, but drained battery life very quickly. My guess is that Apple was unable to fix this problem and felt that the improvement to performance wasn't worth the added power drain, and so had to remove the feature until they could rectify the issue.

It looks like they have finally found a way to do so one year later? I thought my 6S+ was already quite smooth, and it would be amazing if Apple could further improve on that performance.
