It could be your hardware, but I suspect it's software related, which a new phone wouldn't correct.... and the nice folks at an Apple Store could do nothing but give you a replacement and hope that fixes it.

Does restoring as new do anything? (Erase and contents and settings and restore as new?)

When I got 10, I set up as new, and the phone was ridiculous battery drain with indexing, but then it finally leveled out after 1-2 days.... I'm only saying this because a new phone might go through that if you do get replacement or set up as new.

I dare not set up as new as I don’t want to lose texts, photos or video off my phone. I haven’t looked into iCloud backup yet as it confused the hell out of me last time. It’s definitely the update that did this, I know it’s not hardware. I’m not interested in a new phone, just want an update released that gives the phone back it’s performance.

Yes. Apple doesn’t give a damn about the 8 or 8 Plus. It’s not even advertised on their gift guide. Apple’s handing table scraps to their $700 customers.
LOL yep thats how it works. Take McDonalds for example, they could care less if any of their other products taste good as long as the Big Mac does. That's how it works for pretty much all businesses. I suspect Apple only really cares about the 256gb iPX too not the lower end 64gb one if truth be told.

iOS 11 was a total bugfest from inception and it's good that Apple is working towards fixing it. It should get very stable by January-February next year.

It’s gotten better since launch. The only device I have that struggles is the iPad Mini 4. The A8 and 2gb of RAM is not liking iOS 11 one bit.

Comparing Apple to McDonald's is indeed worthy of your eye roll ;)

Well in case you didn't get the point being made I will try and clear it up for you. Companies that make multiple products don't JUST care about their most expensive one and to h*** with the rest of their line. That's not how successful companies work. Does that help?

BTW I happened to be having Mickey D's at the time so guess it was on my mind. LOL

No, I get the point you were trying to make, just the comparison was funny.

It just makes more sense to me that Apple would spend more of their time and focus on making sure the X runs as smoothly as possible, since customers just dropped ~$999 on one. If resources are focused on one product, then the others in the line consequently lose some focus, but that doesn't mean they ignore 8 on down, of course, it's just that they aren't AS concerned with it as they are with their premium product...

The problem with Mickey D's is that they make money on all sales (stay with me), while Apple makes sales only on NEW products.... Apple makes $0 on products that have already been sold (7 on down), and perhaps (perhaps!) view the 8 as a product that cost-sensitive people have made a choice to purchase a compromised product vs. the X; and so Apple will want to make sure that the customers that gave them more money (and therefore more valuable to the company) are happiest... and then down on the line.

I'm sure Ray Kroc would be happiest with the customers, and treat them like royalty, that spend $20 everyday on McDonald's vs. people that buy a french fry every five months.

No vile arguments here, cause I understand your point, I just like discussing ideas :)

The fact of the matter is that to Apple the 8 and 8 Plus are midrange products just like the Samsung A series is to samsung. It will not get nearly the same amount of polish or development time as compared to the high end phone.

The 7 Plus has a perfect home button and awesome battery life on iOS 10 was because Apple cared about it at that time.

That fine line between literal facts and figurative ones.

I have since wondered why the 8 exists. It's like the 5c where no one wants it and it didn't sell as well as expected. (even though both are very cool, nice feeling iphones)...

(though, yes, the 8 and the X have the same processors)

Not sure I understand what you're saying.
Concerning price, the 8 is a midrange device between the X and everything else.

My iPhone X became chopping when unlocking not smoother like others have stated. Am I the only one?

Yeah I get that. And sure they should be 150% focused on making sure a $1k device functions as best as it can, but the OP I replied to initially basically said ONLY the X is all they care about and not even the 8/8+. That is simply not a true statement. Apple, MC D's same thing Lol. :D

The McChicken is not a flagship burger and clearly under Ronnies stewardship McDonalds have lost their way.

Apple certainly should care about the 8 and 8 Plus if they are focusing on the X. It’s by no means a mid range price so should not be treated as such. I doubt even Apple would dare suggest it’s mid range especially as it’s essentially the same phone as the X.

Grand or not we should still not be expecting Apple to screw our phones up.

Well Tim Cook calls the iPhone X a value buy and just a cup of coffee per day being the cost and the X Plus is going to cost even more next year. So this kind of implies what Apple thinks about the $699 iPhone

Who says they aren't? The same type of people that think there's some ongoing malicious conspiracy? Not all opinions have as much going for them as others (especially so when it comes to opinions that are often being presented as facts).

I’d like to think Apple do not only release updates that favour their most expensive products with the knowledge these updates will severely affect performance on older versions.

I have always denied this would be the case and have been extremely impressed with support over the 5 1/2 years I’ve used iPhones. Unfortunately my 6S has suffered awful battery drain for 2 months now since I installed iOS 11 and there is still no fix despite 4 updates. The change in performance was instant after the transition from iOS 10 so it has got me questioning whether there is some weight in conspiracy theories I used to mock.

My phone had to be charged at 3pm today with very little use. It’s not really delivering what is expected from an iPhone right now...

Hello!

I have found a bug in this version:
- enter `Recents`
- clic on the `i` from a contact listed in Recents
- a page appears and you can read the contact's name and under the name you can see 3 circles with `message`, `call` and `whatsapp`
- if i tap `message` I am taken to Messages (where all my texts are) and I am not taken to write a NEW text to that specific contact.
Sometimes I am taken to write a new text to that contact, but most of the time NOT.

You are also losing battery health because of it because charging more frequently accelerates battery Wear.

I have no choice if I want to use my iPhone in the evening before I go to bed. If the battery wears out before my 2 year contract is up i’ll know what caused it. I haven’t suffered battery damage with any other iPhone.

There aren't any issues on a pixel 2 that's so crazy as it is currently with ios 11. The pixel 2 phone runs smoothly on all apps no lags or anything of such crazy calculator bug or animation glitches .
[doublepost=1510991048][/doublepost]
my point is since every release of ios 11 there's been no improvements as it was on ios 10 all these updates coming in are just making phones become worse cmon what are you talking bout ...

No issues on the Pixel 2??? Ok, enjoy all that screen burn and ghosting two weeks after release. ;)
