It may be just light enough to trigger the black text. iOS now uses dynamic text color depending upon the background. You can even see the dots which indicate an app has been updated will change shade based on the background.

Oh I didn’t know that! I changed my background and it’s now back to white text thank you!!

This morning, found that I cannot mute my iPad Pro from the Control Center. The volume is all the way down with the slash through it but it still makes the same sounds as normal. I have it DND mode as I'm at work and don't need it making noises all day. I sent a bug report to Apple.
