iOS 11.4 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

I’ve been having odd issues with 11.4 on iPhone and iPad.

I rarely had to reboot my iPhone 6s+ in the past. Now it’s a daily chore. It feels like I’m using an Android device.

I had no internet over WiFi for 2 hours on iPad. Turned off the iPad and two hours later internet was working again.
But, iPhone connected to same WiFi was working properly.

Spotify would not work on my iPhone until I restarted/power cycled the iPhone. Cell
or WiFi.

Battery life on iPhone 6s+ has significantly dropped. As of now, my iPhone battery is at 68%. On 11.3.1, battery would have been around 80%.

Try this; reboot and immediately after the reboot swipe over to the widget screen and let it refresh. Reboot again and swipe over to the widget screen and let it refresh.

See if that helps! Mine has been fine since doing that.

Thanks for the help, but nothing has seemed to work. Oh well. Guess I’ll just wait for next update and hope for the best.
 
Looks like you can now switch the keyboard just by tapping the Globe key - is this new in 11.4?
previously, I had to tap and hold and then select a different keyboard, now it switches to the next one without tap and hold.

The battery is draining again. I chatted with an Apple rep. and he provided information about the issue with the engineers. I guess there are thousands experiencing this difficulty. UGH!

I noticed my usage and standby are going up at the same rate today. I haven’t had that happen for awhile.

Edit: restarted which fixed it for awhile, but it came back. Started killing apps which seemed to fix it again.

IOS 11.4 update is a nightmare !!

I updated my iPhone X first, then it asked for apple id / password. I am 100% sure the password is correct since i used the 1password app and copy/paste function .

It does not recognise the password . tried a few times even on the web portal . It does not recognise my password.

No choice then, i generated a new password in 1password,a 20 digit password.(Don't judge ...Remember keychain and copy / paste functions) ...

On the iPhone X, FaceTime and iMessage all is locked out , luckily copy/paste function is lifesaver!!..

Next all my devices (2macs + 1 iPad and 2 iPhones ) all required authentication again .
Fine ...No not fine.

I forgot that i used iCloud to sync my 1password between devices.And thus all my other devices DO NOT HAVE THE LATEST password.

Thus thru one way or another , i finally logged in to all the devices.


Did anyone else require their password to be changed??

Really hate upgrading nowadays..So many bugs

I’ve found a way to reliably crash the News app. Scroll down and then tap the top to make it quickly scroll to the top.

Edit: The problem resolved itself after doing it a few times. That’s weird.

Anyone else notice a constant spinning data wheel on the home screen only? When I go into an app I notice it stops but continues when I return to it. It also does not stop by invoking and closing Siri, like the old spinning wheel issue was caused by.
 
anyone here having issues wth message in icloud? i enabled it all in 3 of my devices. It syncs, but the photos and images in the conversion are not.
 
Anyone else’s X completely black out if you touch the notch? I swear it never used to be this sensitive.
 
how do I actually delete attachements like images from iCloud Messages from the cloud? if i delete them from the local storage, it still shows images in the conversation thread by clicking the „i“ in the top right corner. If i delete them there, they only seem to be deleted form this device and not everywhere. There is the option to pull them from the cloud there as well but then they are local and as mentioned before only get deleted from this one particularly device. if i go into my iCloud storage it shows 500 mb but if i click on it, it only jumps into the local conversations which are only like a few MB.

iCloud Message is really confusing with showing different storage on different setting menus and why isnt iCloud Message in the Messages settings area anyway? I highly doubt anyone i know is ever going to even enable it / know about it this way

Apparently it only syncs text which is really disappointing as i never delete text ... i was looking forward to have an easy way to delete attached images but guess not

Been that was since iOS 11.0 beta 1 :) I cant recall any iOS 11 version where mine hasn't done this. That widget has been a mess since iOS 11.

I typically OTA or iTunes (if after betas) If OTA, I close all apps then reboot device THEN update. Never really had any issues with OTA doing it that way.

Does anyone have News added to the widget screen, and if so, does it more often than not say ‘couldn’t load stories’? I have reported it to Apple. Also, the Amazon widget hasn’t worked for me for ages now...that always says ‘unable to load’.
