I reverted back to 10.3 and CarPlay works as it should now, pretty clear there’s some kind of issue with 11. You’d think apple would have tested CarPlay before releasing the update, or maybe they just don’t care?

Interesting, I have the same problems on 2017 Nissan Maxima with iOS 11 carplay (iPhone 6 Plus). Fails to start about 7 times before it finally does. Content in music and podcasts seems to just pause without any interaction on the phone. Battery charging is abysmal even while plugged into the USB port since the update. I wonder if it's carplay on the iphone or whatever software on the Nissan side needs to be fixed?

Just indicating I have problems with my 2017 Nissan Maxima and carplay since the update to iOS11. No problems prior on iOS 10.

2017 Honda CR-V not working and its driving me insane. Can't connect phone with cord, can't play over Bluetooth, when it does work, its sketchy at best. Worked beautifully the 4 months I have had the CR-V. Has anyone figure out a resolution BEFORE calling dealer?

Carplay is pretty much unusable for me in my 2017 Maxima now. It fails to start at all half the time and when it is working it drains the battery fast.

I'm in the same boat as some of you in here with CarPlay.
2017 BMW and CarPlay was more of a headache than anything else.
Just stuck with bluetooth connection and gave up on CarPlay.

i have a 2016 VW Golf. updated to iOS 11 3 days ago. Carplay now doesnt work with siri, messages wont read or be dictated. Music app doesnt display "now playing" phone app doesnt load at all.
Basically bricked my carplay.

Make sure it's connected to the 1.5A USB port marked with a phone (left most in the US model).

I can use carplay and spotify, but i usually have to plug and unplug it a couple of times.
Even then the steering wheel controls work inconsistently.

it’s essentially broken.

This is such a joke. CarPlay has one job. How the hell does Apple not ensure compatibility with their own product?!?!

2017 CR-V Touring. Failed to start once after update but was fine after unplugging and reconnecting.

Map once got stuck plotting directions but I don't know if it will do that a lot as I only use directions when going somewhere new.

11.1 will probably fix it. My radio does not have wireless CarPlay so the phone charges while in use.

Spotify does work fine (subscribed this month). It needs Siri support as controlling it turns into a potential safety issue in cars. I tried asking Siri to play a playlist and it understood my request fine but tried to open the wrong app. So it too needs updating in the future.

Thanks for the hint, turns out it seems to connect with less attempts if I open the phone with touchid before connecting it. Maybe 2-3 times with the compatibility error then third "starting car play" seems to work. I mean it's still a problem, but not doing this loop for 7-10 times now if the phones unlocked.

Same issue here. I have an iPhone 7 and and 2017 Maxima with CarPlay. Since the iOS 11 update I get the loop of "compatibility error..." about 3 times. Then after it does connect, music streaming from Amazon Prime music cuts in and out like a bad connection or like a CD skipping. I wonder if Nissan will do can do updates to the console?

I am curious to know if anyone else is having CarPlay issues as it relates to playing music. Before ios11, everything was working fine. With ios11, though, my music isn’t playing under “Browse” or “Radio.” I unpaired it and paired it again with no luck. I am wondering if others are experiencing similar issues. It may be an Apple Music issue too, but I haven’t seen any posts.

I just had a chat with a Nissan support specialist. They basically said that Nissan is currently testing iOS 11 (testing is not complete) and so iOS is apparently not supported yet with CarPlay in the Nissan Maxima 2017. They did not give any recommendations, but I would think not using CarPlay until it is supported or backing up to a previous iOS (i've never done that/ don't know if its possible) would be the only options until then.

[doublepost=1506691589][/doublepost]I own a 2017 Honda civic touring with Apple Car Play. Bluetooth was no longer transmitting voice, only audio was working. CarPlay screen activated upon connection to USB port but would not display on vehicle MFD. Tried using steering wheel control and was able to connect a call but ios would no longer recognize vehicle for voice through CarPlay. I'll try resetting everything. I find it amazing that Apple can't provide a list of possible reportee issues prior to downloading the update. I would have waited but the good news is I backed up IOS 10.3 prior so if it doesn't work I won't will go back. Also battery life has been depleting on IPhone 7 plus with update. I'm definitely going to replace the device if the Apple store starts telling me to shut down background refresh and close apps. Please work on battery life. If you can prove that I can aggressively use my device for 24 hours I will upgrade otherwise this will be my last Apple product. Also purchased Apple Watch 6 months ago and of course it's passed the exchange period and wasted more money.

I had the same issue with IP6S+, Kenwood DNX893S. After upgrade to iOS 11, Carplay is no longer working.

I think we have to wait for the next firmware upgrade from the Head Unit vendor or either Apple release to fix the issue.

My CR-V had the "can't start Carplay" issue again yesterday. The prompt asks you to disconnect and reconnect the phone and that does work.

Does the Civic use Garmin for mapping now? If so, the firmware is likely very similar to what I have.

bluetooth audio does work but I haven't tested it for phone. I use carplay for that and the steering wheel controls do still pick up and hang up.

Fortunately the problem is intermittent for me.

My 2017 Nissan Maxima connects fine, everything works like usual EXCEPT battery drains faster than it can be charged by USB, as someone mentioned in prior post. Phone actually died on me today during navigation! Many Maxima owners with problems on here indicates something to do with the Maxima OS not being compatible with the new update. Not too hopeful that this will be fixed by either party unless the latest iOS update or a future update will coincidentally fix the problem. Considering going back to previous iOS 10.

UPDATE: Apparently I didn't use it enough times before my original post because after using it several times in the week since, it rarely connects to CarPlay. As of the latest update 11.0.2, CarPlay still not working. Connects 1 out of 10 tries.

Getting an issue with hdmi/mhl mirroring when updating to io11.0.1 CarPlay worked fine. Have a ddx9903s. Any info or workarounds?

I have a 2013 Elantra GT and I don’t like how bluetooth behaves between the car and my iPhone 6S. So I have always just plugged in via USB.

Zero issues with iOS 10. Upgrading to iOS 11 was not a good idea! I get a Media Connection Failed message. The only fix is while plugged in, I hold down Home+Power to force a phone reboot. When it comes back it works. Once I unplug however, or change the car’s media source, I can’t get back to the phone.

Friends on iOS 10 connect no problem.

Haven't noticed any practical issues in my 2015 Sonata Limited
[doublepost=1506953720][/doublepost]I don't use Bluetooth much I use the cable so I can charge the battery

Same trouble in my 2016 Vauxhall Corsa???

Any help???

I'm having the same issue. I use a USB to play my Iphone 7 in my 2013 Hyundai Elantra, and I've never had any issue with my phone playing music until the new IOS 11 update. I've been in contact with Apple Support and they told me to contact my car manufacturerer. When I did they told me its a Apple issue. My Ipad plays which also has the IOS11 update so clearly it has something to do with my phone. I even fully reset my phone and I'm still having issues. It will play the first song on my list but I can't change the music on my steering wheel anymore and sometimes I still get a connection error. I cant even charge my phone now and use bluetooth audio at the same time. Not sure what this update did... but it totally ruined me playing music in my car

I ran some tests on my 2017 VW today. I am not having any new problems with CarPlay now with IOS 11.

Ok I am now having issues with Apple play and my 2017 Hyundai Elantra. It’s really buggy and has restarted my whole system a few times. So annoying.

No issues with mine other than items played from a playlist fail to show the like/dislike hearts on the CarPlay screen, and trying to interact with them does nothing. Works and shows normal on the phone, and for items played through album or artist selection, the hearts work normally. Weird bug but has persisted across a complete wipe so it must be some iOS 11 thing.

Same problem here with same car. I tried to go back 10.3, I backed up my phone before downgrading and the backup replaced the previous backup that I made before updating to 11! iTunes doesn't save your last few backups anymore, just the last one! So, I was faced with losing everything on my phone including my 8000 photos or going back to 11! Sucks, so disappointed in Apple right now. Just got the car and really loved CarPlay. As of the last update 11.0.2 still not fixed. Not even going to bother asking Nissan, I"m sure I know what they'll say.

My phone worked well with my Lexus before the 11.0 upgrade.. but now when I start the car, it tries to play Apple music. I don't have anything against Apple music, it's just that I use Spotify. It seems like it's searching for Apple music online, but I don't have any songs there... wonder how much of a drain on the battery that might be. Anyways, I see I'm not the only one having problems.. thought it may be my phone.
I can only assume/hope that this will be fixed in future updates.
I trust that they will get it right.
ugh...

After 11.0.2 my 6S in 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT is now playing theough USB. However I have to start playing a Spotify song before plugging in. If I don’t play a song, or if I play one from iOS Music app, it says Media Connection Failed and drops back to radio.

Same thing here. 2016 VW Golf GTI... Will work 50% of the times that I connect the phone to the car and since it's my only GPS option it's very annoying. It started with the first beta of 11 all the way to the release versión...
