I just installed iOS 11 on my iPhone 5S. For those people still on iOS 10.. dont upgrade! Yet even after fall.
iPhone 5S missing some features like Apple pay, NFC, no 240FPS in recording slow mo, lacks barometer
And it also lacks one handed quick keyboard!! And iOS 11 makes my iPhone 5s par with iPhone 4S in iOS 9!!! And in some areas 5s is worst and also slower!!
Im so jealous with my sister's iPhone 6 in iOS 11 beta 1 i dont see any stutters on her iPhone 6 or slow downs at all :(

Also, you do realize that in order to have 240FPS, you need a camera that could capture 240FPS. A simple iOS upgrade won't give you capabilities that aren't built into the hardware. In other words, the camera on the 5S doesn't have the hardware to shoot in 240FPS, so what makes you think that by upgrading to iOS 11, the camera on the 5S will get this feature?

You can't gauge performance off of a first beta. Everything you mentioned the 5s has never had either.

Installed ios11b1 on my air2 and iPhone se 64gb.
With iPad I have no issues, running fine, but with phone a very high battery drain.
After installing and first running test, phone getting hot and draining from 50 to 27% in appr. 5 minutes. After rebooting, battery was back at 50%. Then, phone getting hot and battery drains very fast.
Stopped it by rebooting and didn’t use ( display off). After loading back to 90% seems less battery drain, but suddenly getting hotter and battery drain starts, but not as quick as before.
Will wait until tomorrow, otherwise downgrade to iOS 10.3 is necessary.

Any other users with such battery drain and hot phone ( backside, maybe processor)!?!

Will wait with update of my watch Serie 0....

And what exactly were you expecting from the 1st beta on the oldest supported device????

Nice visual changes to the Dictation panel.

Can anybody tell me if you can Love/Dislike songs from the lock screen and/or Control Center? One of the most annoying things about iOS 10...

I'm sorry but you shouldn't be telling people not to upgrade based on a beta. For me, performance isn't much behind iOS 10.3.2 and that's pretty remarkable for a first beta. As for your mention of missing features, the phone either doesn't have the hardware for or cannot cope with the processing demand required, this is no different to features that were omitted in iOS 10. There is also no need for one handed keyboard on this device as a thumb can easily reach the other side of the screen! If you choose not to upgrade then that is your decision but please don't advise others not to based on misguided initial impressions and general ignorance.

OMG, my iPhone is fast now ! Thank you

This seemed to make a difference for me too. Thanks! I wonder if it will get slow again after a few days of using various apps.

Oh my god.

Total game-changer for me if this is true.

I would guess no as I believe the lack of push for new devices was a decision on Google's end to make people use their app.

One strange bug I noticed is that an app I wrote kept performing its background app refresh task even though background app refresh is off for that app in Settings.app. I am not 100% sure but I think a reboot fixed it because I haven't gotten a notification since I rebooted.

After reading her post, I'd say she had some good advice. Don't install on a 5S.

I'm running the beta on a 5s and, as I said, performance is fine for the first version. The occasional slowdowns may be a slight annoyance if running on a primary device but it's best not to do that on beta 1 anyway. Her post just listed some features that can't be supported on the device and complained about slow performance in a first beta. I don't think it's right to put people off testing on their device based on this.

What are you talking about? No you don’t. Siri works as usual, but you have the option of editing what you said.

Sorry, I just saw what you meant. You are confusing 2 features.
1. This is an accessibility feature and you have to disable Hey Siri and the other is
2. an enhancement to regular Siri. So for example if you have asked Siri to remind you pick up a person and it got the name wrong, you can fix it.
I meant that users should have the ability to both talk or type questions to Siri based on current choice (such as being somewhere where talking aloud won't work) - not have to set an accessibility option to enable typing that removes the ability to also speak questions. I'm not confusing two features. I've always thought we should be able to type questions to Siri. Google now offers this feature, in addition to spoken commands. I'm often in situations where I can't speak out loud.

On the Safari you can’t quick swipe to the top when you tapped the status bar
This has been removed too? I use this all the time.
