I can afford an iPhone every year so I don’t care all that much. However there’s no way I would use iOS for long term use. I would rather use a fast older version of any OS than a slower newer version with frame drops all over the place.

Every single thing on my phone since I just installed iOS 11 is sluggish. That’s a perfect word to describe it. I play plenty of demanding games and by those standards it’s safe to say iOS 11 is bringing the A10 and it’s GPU to its knees. It’s definitely not 60fps smooth like on iOS 10.

3DT menu is stuttering with no delay. Leave app for home screen still has a delay.

I disagree. My iPhone 6 never reached the pinnacle of performance of iOS 8.4.1 all the way till iOS 10. By the time we reach the last version of iOS 11 we would have all forgotten how iOS 10 performed so we think iOS 11 speed is just fine.

I can almost guarantee the 7S and the 8 will both not have this delay and will perform like the 7 Plus used to on iOS 10. Planned Obsolescence dialler up to 11 is what this is. Apple has not at all bothered to optimise iOS 11 for their former flagship.

Because this stutter was not there on iOS 10 and iOS 11 added nothing to iOS 10 apart from a redesign and some app updates which merits this stutter.

Bingo.

This is especially noticeable to my gamer eyes. I play on a 144hz Dell S2714DG and I am extremely sensitive to those subtle drops.

Even Android Nougat Betas were more optimised than iOS 11 ones on older devices.

With all this anti-iOS sentiment it's a wonder you are still using an iPhone. Long ago you said you would go off into the Android world and yet here you still are. I don't have the time rehash and rebut every illogical point you make but just remember we are here to discuss the iOS 11 Beta only. As with all beta software iOS 11 will continue to mature and improve with every new release just as was the case with iOS 10, 9, etc. By the way I am running iOS 11 Beta 10 on my iPhone 7 Plus, 2017 iPad and on my "old" iPhone 6. I am happy to report that all three devices are running Beta 10 very nicely with nothing negative to report.

you are in denial if you dont notice the delay on clicking the home button.

I dont notice any of those animation „lags“ or „frame drops“ either but i have reduced animations turned on. Does that matter? Oh and i am not a gamer either :D

Haha, yes that matters since it turns off most animations (which have the frame rate drops.)

Were you driving by chance? Is the Do Not Disturb While Driving set to automatic?

No, I mean "ON" ! My iphone 6S DnD setting is OFF, no schedule setting, and it switches to ON itself ! And each time I manually swich it OFF, a few minutes later, it's back ON with the small moon displayed on notification bar.

No, I wasn't driving. I'm actually at my office with my phone on the desk, and DnD keeps switching to ON itself ! Yes DnD while driving is set to Auto, but I'm not driving and don't see the "I'm not driving" button when I unlock my phone... But let me try to switch "DnD while driving" to manual and check if it happen again (perhaps a DnD while driving function bug).

what are you talking about

Every development process in the business has a so called code freeze. At some point during the development, the code freezes for a final version which is the GM ready for the new devices. This is the basis. From that point, every change is not be part for the GM.

Like last year: Developers/Public Testers/New Device will receive an initial iOS 11.0. The changes now will be part of a later version iOS 11.0.1 or iOS 11.0.2.

The code freeze for the new devices after iOS 11 b6. Every other beta will be part of iOS 11.0.1 or later. The public release (all none beta testers) will probably never see a iOS 11.0.0, they might see a iOS 11.0.1 as the first iOS version. The iOS version of the then delivered iPhone needs to be updated prior activation to iOS 11.0.1...

I just turned on 'reduced animations' and the slight lag/jerky behavior still exists when activating a 3D Touch menu (e.g., 3D Touch an app on the home screen)

Yes, the 3D Touch stutter remains. Doesn’t bother me at all though.

Anyone experiencing a weird issue where swiping away a video in the Twitter app, the video still keeps on playing in the background with sound?

Weather widget not updating as it should. I reported this a while ago. Hopefully gets fixed on GM release.

BTW, on 7 Plus, launch any app and quickly press the close button.
iOS 10: App closes instantly midway of the animation
iOS 11: App opens. The animation completes. 1 second delay is introduced and then the app closes.
This makes our phone look slower.

This here is planned obsolescence. This has been done deliberately so that next iDevice appears snappier. Subtle but noticeable enough.
Did this and can't say I agree. Majority of the time the animation is so quick you don't have time to interrupt it. But sometimes when I hit home quickly enough, I CAN interrupt and close... 7 plus here too

yeah agreed. most people can't seem to wrap their head around this

Is anyone testing this with iPhone SE/5s? I can't believe this bug hasn't been fixed yet:

[doublepost=1504751217][/doublepost]And what about the podcast app when navigation is enabled, volume and play controls overlap hindering usability:

Mine seems fine. I’m using iPhone SE

In a previous beta (7 I think) I had a little more battery life with my 7+. This is from today with battery on save mode since 100% With the other with same use at this time I was having 85% of battery. (Using AirPods 6 hrs aprox. )

I don't notice any "lag". Some of you people are far too critical of tiny changes from version to version. It's not always going to behave the exact same. I honestly notice zero lag and never have. It opens. 1 millisecond is not bothering me or even getting my attention. I have far more important things to worry about.

I agree. This ‘lag’ people are talking about isn’t even an issue. I press the home button and it closes, nothing is wrong with it!
