Notes app:

* If notes app is in a split view space and you double tap the Apple Pencil on the lock screen it causes a black screen with a spinning wheel, followed by the pin code screen.

* When using the scanner option in notes and then returning to home screen, if you tap the pencil on lock screen it automatically bring up the scanner camera.

* When tapping Apple Pencil on lock screen it always brings up the pin code screen. Does anyone know if it possible to change this so it bypasses this and just brings up the notes app in locked mode and ready to write?

(Public Beta 1) Have provided feedback.

Preparing to update took forever. Installation took close to 15-20 min on my 7 Plus running DB2
Up to 5 min on my iPhone 6s Plus. I think. Anyway, does not take forever.

In what way is the weather app hideous?
All sorts of big fonts I guess...

For sure, with the iPad, we’re getting to the point where “power users” (I hate that term, it reeks of elitism but that’s not what I mean by it) are becoming a thing. Actually that point probably came at iOS 10. The balancing act for Apple now is to leave existing less demanding (I hate that term too, but I hope you know what I mean) and new users with a simple experience, similar to how it’s always been*, and still giving the others more power at their fingertips. That long press definitely seems a bit overloaded at first sight but in practice, especially in this 3rd DP, it’s actually really quite easily to hit the intended action quite easily.

*imagine you never read MR and you were already happy with, say, how iOS 9 worked on an iPad and weren’t looking for much more. In iOS 11 you still just double click the home button to see your open/recent apps, swipe to kill, tap to re-open them. Nothing much really changed unless you go looking for more.
I get your point completely. And, of course, this could be a better strategy to both keep existing customer and inspire new customer: I have everything I need without triggering all those new fancy stuff, while you can enjoy all of those new things I do not need at all.

Back in the day the Weather app never had big fonts or wasted space

Oh wait, it did. And much less information. And a pointless “card”. Not that I’m saying it was horrible then, or particularly great now. If you don’t like it though, you might have heard of a little startup venture called “The App Store”

Exactly. To be honest I’m not fully convinced that the “power user” route is the right one for the iPad and I do think it will inevitably lead to the sorts of points you raised about long vs loooong. There’s only so much you can do with a finger on a screen.

BTW the above about Weather was not aimed at you.

I think this beta feels more solid than beta 2. I don't know how to explain it, but it feels less fragile. I like it! And gotta love being able to close apps properly now. Already feels much better than beta 2.

On a 7+ btw
Same here. Much improved experience on my 7 Plus. Smoother and a lot of UI fixes.

Thanks for the suggestion. Still gives me an error message when trying to restore it :( guess I'm bricked

What kind of restore are you doing? Just normal through iTunes, Recovery Mode (with the ‘connect to iTunes’ icon) or DFU (blank screen)?

I made a separate thread and got no love but is anybody on the beta and using an Apple Watch on WatchOS 3.2.2 still?

Starting yesterday morning it’s been acting funky. I’ll occasionally get the “disconnected from phone” indicator and stop receiving notifications. The watch is also no longer showing up in my connected Bluetooth devices. I’m concerned about losing my health data and really don’t wanna risk resetting or restoring anything.
The only fix is to unpair and repair your watch.

Two screenshots. Check the "a". It doesn't match the new font in Notes. Do I need a restore? Restart hasn't down anything. Please post your Messages screen grab showing the font change, someone?

Hi there!

I'm sorry, I didn't read through the whole thread, could someone please tell me whether to swipe on notifications in Notification Center to invoke actions (dismiss, open, etc.) works again? Or are they really doing away with that convenient and fast interaction method?

Plus, you have listed "Brightness won’t fully go up on some devices. (iPhone 7)" under "Bugs" in the initial post.
Could someone affected please check if the reason is what I posted here:
Reduced screen brightness

I got my iPhone 6s display back to full brightness.

Thanks and best regards,
VSG

As far as I tested this update seems nice, noticeably better than b2, but still need working....
I am very happy because my main problems were resolved:
1)Auto-brightness
2)App switcher
3)The visual glitch when pulling up control center

Everyone make sure you check your sound settings! Changing the ringer volume with buttons was automatically turned off after I updated.

Yes, I had this thing disabled too. I have found that it is buggy. When enabled, using the buttons sometimes affects Volume and sometimes the Ringer. This is a bug, and most likely this is why it is disabled by default in b3.

That may not be a good change. 4/6 digit PIN is less secure than a full password.
But this could possibly allow faster restore or factory reset. Does not really mean it can bypass activation lock during initial setup.

Modern people has a tempt to consider everything with a “pro” tag on it must include stuff that is more advanced or more capable. Also, thanks to that arrogant Apple claim that “iPad can replace computer for many people”, the expectation skyrocketed. Kinda like Apple digs a hole for itself to jump into.

Looks like the Bluetooth icon next to the battery percent indicator now stays bold the entire time, rather than appearing “grayed out” when not connected to a Bluetooth device.

It does the same on macOS 10.13 beta 3 now. Either intentional, or a bug.

Switching off Bluetooth from the Settings and enabling it again flashes the icon, showing that the grey is still there. Maybe they are onto something with it. :)

Oh you’re on a 6 Plus. I didn’t know that was the same as the 7 Plus... smh

I dont know if it was already mentioned, but now on smart invert colors, the SNS and iMessage bubbles conserve their colors. It is really stupid because if I use invert colors its to be able to read white text on black background but now its black text on white bubble again. Smart invert should just be used for images, icons, and things such status bar and lock screen clock.

It seems like the broadcast feature in screen recording could turn out to be a huge deal. If it allows for say live screen streaming to Twitch or other things like that.

Just guessing though.

Only just noticed that Safari History now has its own section in the sidebar next to bookmarks and reading list, where shared links was previously located. This is a welcome change!
