almost certain 10.3.5 comes out today

Someone in the main article thread made a good point. If new macs are coming in 10.3.5 (likely, as rumored), there may be traces of those devices in 10.3.5, and therefore Apple is holding the MacOS update back until 10.3.5.

It's kind of odd to release iOS version with something like Messages in iCloud that really benefits from macOS supporting it, and not release macOS version that supports it until a week later, and then to top that off release a new beta version while the last beta is still active too.

Those traces would also be in 10.13.6, however.

Or it was done intentionally due to Apple fearing a majority of Apple devices suddenly trying to backup their messages, so they are effectively releasing this functionality in waves by way of discriminating against device types.

Not necessarily. They could add those tidbits in separately in beta 2. If new macs are coming next week, 10.13.6 won't be ready yet.

Something for the public beta testers to use while the developers jump on iOS 12.

Is it on the public beta or no? Like if I reinstall the public beta profile will 11.4.1 show up or no? My intention is to jump on dev profile for iOS 12 anyways but I think I will just install dev profile I think at this point so I can go from 11.4.1 to 12 or whatever the profile requires.

I’ve still got the dev profile on mine, so I’m not entirely sure, but in the past the public beta release has come out around 4 hours after the dev release or the next day.

Something must be wrong with 10.13.5. I dont want to install a beta on my Mac, but I want to get iMessage in the cloud running on all my devices. Anyone have issues with the latest 10.13.5 beta?

I believe the beta is better and as stable (or contain the same bugs) as 10.13.5. No issue on my MacBook Air though.

Are you referring to the new 10.13.6 beta?

I just realized now that 10.13.6 public beta is out, I missed my shot at installing 10.13.5 beta. Oops. Guess I'm stuck until public drops.

I've been running the 10.13.5 betas on my 2016 15" MBP and haven't had any critical issues with it. I sometimes need to reboot when I'm switching between clamshell mode with dual external monitors and regular notebook mode but it's not often and has happened since I can remember. I'm currently running the 10.13.6 beta and it's been running fine as well.

I always do a SMB and NVRAM reset and reboot after every update.

Thanks for the reply. I'm hesitant to install 10.13.6 because its a beta one. I download the profile to install 10.13.5 last night but chickened out. Now I'm stuck. :(

Any chances for it to drop in 3 hours?
10.13.5 public? Yeah its always possible.

Yep 10.13.5. I feel like they will drop it today.

I'm pretty confident 10.13.5 will drop by Tuesday. I can't see them running too much longer without a public release.

I hope so, thats why I didnt go through with the beta last night, thinking it would be out today at 10AM. I just want to get all my devices to the latest release so I can turn on iMessage in the cloud for all of them. I'm not turning it on yet because I want to to be a blank slate.

Especially because the iMessage in the cloud support article says to install the latest version of macOS on your Mac to use it.

Actually, the latest macOS reference for Message to iCloud seems to be removed from support doc https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208532
