I'm guessing the 12.1.2 beta will get a version bump as they have released a different software version as 12.1.2..

So, 12.1.2 Beta 1 was build 16D5024a, and final is 16C101. Am I missing something, or shouldn't it be a D series? Or did they in fact do something weird?

Is it a older build number than the beta or do I read that wrong?

If this was a beta build, it would be 16C6101
So that means apple has leap frogged to released a version not released in beta ?
It sounds like this might be an update on top of the 12.1.1 codebase and whatever was released as 12.1.2 beta is still something that's in beta and perhaps will now be labeled as something like 12.1.3 when newer betas come out.

did anyone got the update on ipad?
Nope. But an article about the update on macrumors does say this is an iphone only update. And likely it’s only for this year’s iphones. Can anyone confirm on this?

Did they ever fix the issue that was occurring with Bluetooth connectivity issues? If so, can someone tell em what version this happened in? Can't seem to find any details that point it being fixed anywhere.

It's there for older phones as well, like iPhone 7, for example (probably because in addition to the actually emphasized changes there are additional ones relating to the recent Qualcomm patent infringement ruling).

So yeah, if you are on the beta you can’t get this release. Build numbers won’t trigger it to show up since the beta is higher than the release. Dumb.

Basically it's not an update to the beta version (12.1.2), but an update to the public version (12.1.1). It sounds like the beta will need to get updated/relabeled as something like 12.1.3.

This build is using the same kernel and modern firmware in iOS 12.1.1 and not the updated kernel or modem firmware in the beta.

Are there any bug or security fixes which makes it worth to update?

Just bug fixes with eSIM and connectivity. No security fix.

I checked and couldn’t find an answer. I can’t the update on my iPhone X running iOS 12.1.2 beta. I removed the profile, restarted and still nothing. I am in Ottawa, Canada. Any tips?

Two ways. Using recovery mode on iPhone with iTunes to “Update” or get the IPSW to update using iTunes.

Or wait till the next beta. Apple may need to release an iOS beta soon to catch up with the other betas.

thanks. That’s a lot of work to save the backup and restore then having to tweak each app again individually to my settings.

Nope. Don’t “restore” just “update” and you’ll retain all your data. You will get an update and restore option in recovery mode. DFU mode on the other hand will only give restore option. Back up in case too while using iTunes.

Strangely my iPhone 7 got fairly hot while installing this update.

Smooth sailing so far, but not reason why it wouldn't be. Verizon iPhone X. Also, the update was so small it didn't get a chance to show me how big the update was.

Interesting. Modem firmware downgrade from the beta to 1.02.18 but carrier version 35.0 for T-Mobile on my Max

I’m suspecting this is an incremental update to the 12.1.1 released last week, and beta 1 of 12.1.2 will become 12.1.3 beta 2. Would be a first, but odd that firmware, carrier versions, and build numbers don’t line up with the beta version of 12.1.2.
