Has anyone else noticed that Instant hotspot, where you turn on the personal hotspot on the phone from your iPad or computer, hasn’t been working if you have only an eSIM? I thought that maybe this update would fix it but it doesn’t appear so. I am also having trouble with handing calls off from my computer to the iPhone but i don’t know if that is eSIM related or not. It sometimes just doesn’t work.

Instant Hotspot hasn't been reliable in general for quite a few iOS versions now. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It may be related to the phase of the moon, or how much fiber I've gotten in my diet lately. I don't even bother trying to fix it anymore and just manually connect now when it's not working.

So it may have nothing to do with eSIM, and more to do with which side of the bed you woke up out of this morning. :)

Although I agree with that sentiment, this bug seems to be directly related to eSIM. There was another thread here in the forums discussing it. It had been pretty solid for me lately, though. Until I swapped my SIM for an eSIM in the phone. It is strange, though. My iPad has been eSIM now since the iPad Pro 9.7 inch and worked fine with Instant Hotspot. Better this minor annoyance than some of the T2 issues us MacBook Pro 2018 owners have been seeing, though.

Instant hotspot has been reliable for me thus far on iphone 6s on all versions it has run (currently on iOS 12.0.1). I will have my iphone Xs in a few days and will inform how hotspot works on that one and using the regular nanoSIM (no eSIM for now, might use that for my secondary line later on when that carrier supports it).

On my iPhone XS the Instant Hotspot worked fine until I moved to an eSIM. Some folks are saying that it works for them if they are using the eSIM to provide the mobile hotspot but also have a physical SIM installed. So it seems some sort of bug that’s related to the eSIM.

Factory restored last night to 12.1.2 via iTunes (XS), device set up as new and all seemed fine. Except for the phone going completely mute a few minutes ago out of nowhere. No sounds for notifications, calls, nothing. I played a video through the YouTube app and the sound magically appeared again.

In my experience, I haven't had a glitchier iPhone (OS version(s)). I restored because my LTE connectivity is atrocious, Wi-Fi drops fairly often as well. Flipping Airplane mode on/off switch like a monkey every day seems the only way to temporary fix this.

Cross fingers that it's all software related.

I feel for you buddy.

Few hours later:

The problems persist. WiFi dropped again, while standing 6 feet away from the router. LTE was 'on' but there was no internet. Interestingly enough they fixed themselves after a little while. That's definitely software, as I expected. So there's hope.

This build feels a bit... off. Brand new iPhone XS and it doesn't seem as fluid as the past iOS 12 releases. Like it's fine but somehow it feels like it's dropping frames here and there.

@thatJohann - Dropping frames here as well. Also and quite annoying - choppy video playback (YouTube). I think it has something to do with auto brightness. Sometimes it's alright, sometime it stutters like hell. I got my 6S here side by side with the XS and the old fellow's killing it.

Updated OTA which is unusual for me. I always use iTunes.

Seems like a good update. No changes but no bugs introduced either. Smooth animations as well.

Another update which STILL doesn't fix the multiple devices in Screen Time. Multiple Devices I don't even own anymore or are linked to my Apple ID.

i have experience dropping frame aswell on homescreen but i have higher benchmark than previous.
