iOS 12.1 Beta 3― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Having issues with Verizon; phone will get stuck on “no service” once it loses service. Annoying for me as I ride the subway every day. Then when I turn airplane mode on/off, it shows Verizon LTE but the bars are all gray and it gets stuck there, but my service works fine.

I didn’t have this issue in previous betas so I’m hoping in beta 4 it’ll get fixed.

This has been happening for me from 12.0 on my XS. 12.1b3 helped a bit but still seeing it, it’s driving me nuts.

Anyone else on public beta 3 seeing issues with performance on the iOS calendar on the ipad? It’s really slow for me when navigating between days.

No issues on iPP 9.7.

Is anyone else having issues with notification center? It feels so laggy and sloppy compared to beta 2?

Mine barely works. Especially when the phone is locked. Or control centre. Settings all the same as iOS 11/12 betas. Worst beta of iOS 12 so far in my opinion. iPhone 7

Same here... zero issues with Notification Center on iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and iPhone X.

My iPhone Xs Max keeps asking me to enter the password to activate the Face ID after restart.
It has happend one time while using the device, the other times I take it out of my pocket and it's like that.

My notification center with many notifications is very unresponsive on iPhone 7 Plus. When I slide my finger up and down nothing happen most of the time. No scroll at all!
Same control center, especially when the device is locked.

I may have fixed this by going into Cellular - cellular data options - turning LTE off, restarting phone, then turning it back on. Not perfect, but much better now.

For my Xs, 12.1 beta 3 made smart HDR instantaneous compared to 12.0.1 BUT also less HDR (lots of blown highlights). Anyone else?

Not quite sure what you're asking here?
You will always be asked for your password after you restart your phone before faceID will work. This is nothing new.
Ain't sure how it could be asking for your password just by bringing it out of your pocket???

At least for me, iOS 12.1 beta 3 messed up smart HDR. Just downgraded to 12.0.1...and my smart HDR is back to greatness.

UPDATE: You can restart your phone, it should fix the problem FOR A WHILE. Then it will go back to being laggy. You know when your have a lower iOS device like iPhone 3GS and your memory is full, and starts lagging? It’s like that.

I did formulate that badly. My iPhone Xs Max keeps restarting all by itself. I know this because FaceID keeps asking me for the passcode after restart. I didn't restart it manually.

Having an issue where all my custom notification sounds are replaced with default sounds even though everything is set correctly. I’ve rebooted, changed the sounds and then changed them back again. I can’t work it out and it’s driving me crazy!! Xs Max latest beta.

Wait, so for you guys with Xs (or Xs Max), iOS 12.1 beta does NOT change your Smart HDR?? For my Xs, 12.1 beta basically made smart HDR non-existent (does not work much at all).

I think you’re going to need to post pics showing what you mean. Mine seems to be working fine. Not all bugs affect all users.

Too late. I downgraded to 12.0.1 already. But the pics barely had any highlight control ... aka lots of blown highlights despite smart HDR on.
