I suspect Apple increase internal clock in 12.x - which made overall system speedier and faster (even compared to 10.x) with the cost of shorten battery usage. They are preparing foundation necessary for new functionalities (ie News+ in 12.2). In my opinion, this is fair enough, but somehow Apple needs to mention this in release note so everyone will know consequences of upgrading.
i can tell you it just the same i have this app called cpu dasher x and it has its the same cpu speed when i first i first install it on ios 12.

Maybe hardware cpu speed is remain unchanged. Only the clock / sleep time in overall system is shortened.

I’m starting to believe it is something with my iCloud. When I sign out of my iCloud and stayed signed out my battery behaves the way I would expect it, but if I am signed into iCloud and have everything turned on that’s when I experience the higher drain.

Where’s the redesigned Apple TV remote? I was looking forward to the old one getting a much needed facelift....or is this exclusive to newer phones (I’m on 7 plus).

Edit: just noticed it changed when launched from the widget.

My iphone X since 12.2 update this week is draining battery brutally! Normally before bed is around 50%, now 25%...

What can i do? Install 12.3 beta 1?...

what is iTunes on 12.2? is the Music with a multicolored note iTunes?
will this app play. store and act as a provider of albums to other music apps like Foobar?
i gots to knows!

Restored my Max with iTunes and ipsw file from scratch and no problems here. Battery life seems normal.

The settings app on my Xs often freezes and then I have to force close.
I think this is not tied to 12.2. Let me elaborate:
I've had this issue as far back as the iPhone 7, on all versions till the X released where I proceeded to have the same issue still. Now I'm on the Xs, which has been plagued by the settings app locking up randomly since launch day. I think it's related to a setting gone rogue that persists through iCloud backups because I always give my old phones away to relatives and they experience no problematic setting app on their end.

FWIW battery life on my XS Max on 12.2 has been MUCH better than 12.1. It’s actually almost where iPhone battery life used to be around iOS 10.

I wonder if people who have bad battery life we’re also on the betas? I was on beta six before getting the official, and perhaps something went wonky with my iCloud account having to deal with having a beta profile and then switching over to the official ?

Has Apple changed how long you have to press the iPhone power button to cold boot?

There is something wrong here

Not sure was it a feature before this but on m Xs max I can now swipe up from anywhere bottom part of the screen to swipe the screen away or go multitasking. I recall the swipe area used to be only from the bottom visible “bar”?

I can do that on 12.1.1, so it’s been there before.

The issues with multiple old devices that I don't own anymore showing in Screen Time....STILL not fixed with 12.2. Unreal.

Normally through iTunes it's better.

Yea I’ve pretty much given up at this point, I shouldn’t have to investigate why battery life tanks after an update. Shame that such a great update performance-wise gets overshadowed by horrible battery life.

Really don’t understand how Apple can’t get this right (unless it’s intentional). It sounds like most people who are saying battery life is improved are those with newer devices, while people like myself with an SE “need to upgrade”...

Since 12.2 I have frequently been unable to make calls. I can dial the number but nothing else happens. Hard reset fixes this.

I have great battery life on Beta 6 12.2,i am afraid to update to Official 12.2!

Don't know if it's been talked about, but I'm getting a delay in my messages app. I get a new sms and until i touch the display to wake it up, it won't ring nor show the notification. Sometimes, it passes 5,6,7 or more minutes since I received the sms, and when I touch the screen, it suddenly rings and I can see how long since I received the sms. It happens a lot of times. Other times, everything goes normal.
