24 hours in with beta 7 on my iphone 7 and I'm really happy with it. No issues at all, smooth as heck and battery is better than I ever thought possible and no I'm not trolling. This is how it should have been for all. I may hold back from installing the "fix" that will be coming until I see how the rest of you get on with it. I just don't see how it could get better. A disclaimer tho as I do not use alot of the stuff folks are complaining about. No Apple watch and do not use bluetooth but so far all my 3rd party apps as well as Apple apps open fast and work smoothly. Even all my Google stuff is working fine. Hope you all find your fix maybe tomorrow.
I'm with you! Both 8+ and iPP are running exceptionally well! I didn't think the 8+ could get much better battery usage, however after a bit over 7hrs and a couple of extended phone calls I am still at 94%.

I think I may just wait till b8. There is no reason to install an updated b7.

Fastest but also smoothest beta yet in my experience. I’m not going to jinx this so I’ll probably pass on the fix and wait for Beta eight
I totally agree. My worries now is that Apple will change something due to the pull of beta 7 that slows things down to beta 6 status.

I also like to stress that battery life is exceptionally well on this beta. I usually don’t care about battery life and use to diss people talking about battery drains (I don’t beleive in it since there’s almost always a non Apple app causing it) BUT WOW! There’s really a noticable difference in battery life with beta 7!

Great work Apple—keep it up!

Hey, new here. Love the site! Beta 7 has been perfect for me on 8 plus. The sprint carrier version is wrong. It’s now 33.0. At least that’s what it says on my phone.

Good plan. I do use OTA but also have a process that seems to work fine. I force close all apps, then restart the device and then perform the update before opening anything else. After maybe 15-30 minutes after the update finishes I reboot once more just for good measure. Not really had any issues either.

I’m not in the beta program, but I do the same steps for every iOS update since 2010. Never had significant issues which has been minimal.

For what it is worth.... Based on this suggestion (https://twitter.com/_inside/status/1029065628227907585?s=12), I turned off Screen Time in Settings before I upgraded to Beta 7. And after the initial boot up, I let the iPhone X just sit for 5 minutes. No issues whatsoever. Performance is quite snappy. I have no idea if the 2 things I did made any difference.

Edit: My upgrade was OTA.

Update 24 hours later.... Beta 7 on iPhone X. Very very snappy. Other than issues already reported in the wiki, I've had some issues with phone app freezing (restart resolved it, can't recreate), and some 3rd party camera apps behaving erratically. Have turned Screen Time back on without issues. Can't comment on battery life since I am not that obsessed with it. Noticeably faster than previous betas.

As has been pointed out many times, the beta program is the quality control.
Thats a terrible policy, with extreme short comings.

They should have a public HARDWARE beta system too.. why not? Let the public test out the hardware, and the public can be in charge of “pre-sale quality control” for that too. /s

they give media review units sometimes. beta software is done to catch bugs so the wider the pool the better, not confident that is the case with hardware

They should release the updates when they are usable. Not weekly with the issues like in the last one.
it’s a beta, yes. but even though it’s beta 7, remember how buggy it feels going from a matured version for over like a year to a version that isn’t. it always feel buggy as all get out without even being on the betas track. the GM isn’t gonna be perfect, never is. let alone the beta prior to it

Welcome to the forum! Updated the wiki for the carrier. Verizon is at 33.0 also and that one was incorrect as well.

Yep definitely agree with that, I just hope that all of these people are actually using the feedback app to let Apple know of their issues. There's no point running the beta and not reporting issues.

I disagree. If someone is installing the beta, and doesn't really have a clue what beta software is or why it even exists, I'm hoping they are NOT reporting issues. The last thing Apple needs is thousands of useless reports they have to sift through to get to actual bugs.

Also folks are not understanding that developers need access to the firmware so they can code their apps with the new API's and such and test with the new OS to work out any issues. So when it does release their apps are updated to work with the new OS. Hint: That's why its called a Developer Preview and available on the Developer portal :) And is 100% optional to install or not.

The ‘media review units’ almost always go to the Apple shills like Mossberg... hardly objective types. Apple is pretty vindictive about negative reviews of ‘media review units’.

Many would argue that iOS 12 b7 is better, smoother and less buggy than iOS 11.4.1.

Anyone trying to defend the slowdown bug by saying „its a beta, that‘s what beta testing is for“ is delusional. Such a bug should‘ve been caught by their QA, not the developer preview as evident by Apple pulling the build. If one of my devs shipped a build with such a bug to a tester ring, let alone this close to launch, heads would roll.

Yes, betas are there to test, no they do not replace QA divisions or should have device breaking bugs.

Apple disagrees.
Not fully true. Your statement is very angled.

Also, who knows why Apple pulled the beta besides Apple? A few people on some forums started some kind of panic followed by a well known programmer releasing a video of a slowdown when launching apps. Apple then took actions—better being safe than sorry and they pulled it.

As far as I can tell there are a lot of people saying that beta 7 is extremely smooth and bug free. I agree.
