Yea probably none of the internal testers own the current generation of iPhones:D

Or, you know, they just experienced no (severe) problems on them, like many other people on current generation of iPhones hasn't...

I am on beta 6, i did not check update yesterday (luckily) and in the morning(i’m in Turkey) settings was showing red 1 circle on the settings, i did check it was ota update. I tried to do that and it failed. However it was showing in Storage section and i deleted it. However 1 red circle thing did not go off from settings. (I explained for who see this thing on settings)

Now i am wondering how to be real developer for Apple. (I bought dev account newly) how can i do what i want in this phone. Any suggestion?

Bluetooth disconnection problem (media) with my Ford Sync is resolved.

I also encountered apps slow opening at first boot, then I hard rebooted my iPhone x and not lagging any more.

Everyone needs a little perspective here:

-First, this IS a beta and this is precisely why they do this. This is not a pre-release early use program; it’s a testing program. And it did exactly what it was intended to do.

-As far as bugs go, this seems pretty ho hum. Per most reports here, devices were sluggish for awhile and most then resumed normal speed. Phones weren’t bricked, user data was not indiscriminately broadcast, etc...

-Apple did the appropriate thing: they pulled the update.

I can’t speak to the overall state of Apple’s software or build quality now vs x years ago, because all I have is anecdotal evidence, mainly from a technically-skewed user-base, many of whom have an axe to grind (for non native English speakers: a grievance, whether actual or perceived). This is not exactly the most representative sample out of the 100s of millions of Apple device owners.

Are there problems from time to time? Sure there are. But overall, for a device that possesses the computing power that a quarter century ago would have taken the capacity of at least an entire server rack, I’d say the issues are pretty minor (same for Android, by the way). I graduated from college in the mid-1980s. When I started, they were just phasing out the use of punch cards as a primary means of data input. Perhaps that is why I am much more forgiving of 59 vs 60 frames per second; I remember NO frames per second. Many here are old enough to remember the joys of dial up internet, especially that distinctive logon sound.
. Now our devices are instantly connected, (mercifully) soundlessly. I could go on.

Anyway, appreciate the fact that these devices are commodities now and that the most significant issues are really pretty minor. A sluggish phone does not portend the apocalypse.

Many people probably have issues with this beta because they updated OTA for so long. How many of you updated from ios 11 via OTA to ios 12 beta 1? Then beta 2 and 3 and so on? And how many of you did a clean restore recently? I DFU restored to install ios 12 beta 1 then I DFU restored again when ios 12 beta 6 was available because it felt sluggish. And now I updated OTA to beta 7 and nothing is wrong, some apps, like settings, don t even flash when I open them, it s just instant, my geekbench 4 multiscore on iphone 8 is 10802. My point is, the more you update OTA, the more chances are you re gonna run into bugs and slowdowns.
That would be nice (and I did try it myself) if the last version and previous of iTunes would allow us to do that.
Version 12.8.0.150 does nothing when we select the IPSW file and, for instance, version 12.7.5, where extracting software is raizes an error saying that iTunes cannot identify device.
And this is like this for a few months and Apple doesn't do anything about this. So, no way to do a fresh install.

This update seems pretty solid despite the sluggish at post-boot but after a few minutes it stabilizes.

I think this Diagnostic menu was added in iOS 10.3. Were you able to start the diagnostic?

I honestly didn’t try... I didn’t want to mess anything up lol

I noticed even though Apple may have pulled OTA for this build and made IPSW unavailable via Dev portal but the direct URL links do still work to download IPSW

Edit: Don't try since the build is not signed

I had started the update on my son's IP 7 and walked away confident it would just motor through since I had the "auto update" option toggled. It seems they pulled the download and removed the signing while it was in the "preparing update" option because it didn't update. I tried a few times to kick off the update myself (just to see) but it would not install. So I deleted the install file and restarted his phone. Waiting on the replacement build. Curious to see how long it takes them to fix it and if they'll call it beta 8 or just a different version of beta 7.

The internal apple testers are probably using relatively "clean" devices. The majority of us, although explicitly warned against it, are probably using our daily drivers so we will naturally experience a vastly greater pool of issues. This is by design. free beta testing and all of the feedback they receive from testers...

When there was a build of iOS 9 or maybe it was 10 that was bricking iPad Pro's it took them a few days to push out an updated build.

I’m one of those without any problems with beta 7 (I don’t use Screen time and some suggested that’s where the problem is with beta 7).

Anyway, this beta version is extremely fast and smooth. I surely hope they fix the problem with beta 7 without affecting speed since this is great—real great!

I‘ll install beta 7 later with iTunes.

Installed Beta 7 just after it was released. No problems so far on iPhone 6.
Should I go back to Beta 6 or is it fine to keep using it until another build is seeded?

Yeah, this boot option has been around for a while. There's no point in running them unless you're in an Apple store since it sends the results to a server to be viewed on an iPad using an internal Apple app.

A lot of the people in this thread really shouldn't be using beta's since they seem to think beta releases are just early access and expect them to be bug free.

Bugs like what happened in beta 7 are a good thing, imagine if they pushed out a public release with that bug, they would have so many complaints.

You can't take a forum as a general public experience. You'll always hear problems first on forums. Its normal. When new MacOS updates comes, you always have tons of "serious" problems topic, but personally - and also with my friends and family - never experience big problems with any macOS updates except minor ones who are fixed at the next .1 update.

Again, I fully understand that... and have stated so in previous posts... but the fact remains that there are quality issues with stuff coming out of Apple... and it's also important to note that not all of the issues are beta software related... some may very well be hardware... and some are major issues with released software.

The fact that numbers of issues reported may be more frequently and more loudly reported here doesn't in any way diminish the fact that the issues are there... especially if you are one of the "lucky" ones who have the issue(s).

Again, this is probably something best discussed and debated in another thread - the iOS 12 beta threads are not the place.

I remember when one of the iOS 11.0 betas last year rendered visual voicemail inoperable and some people lost their minds. Apple never pulled the beta and we had to deal with it for two more builds before it was corrected, myself included.

Seriously, every time I install a new beta, any beta, I always expect the worst and hope for the best. That way I’m pleasantly surprised when things go well. It’s mind boggling to me some people would try to link Apple’s beta program to its quality control.

It seems for me once the initial post-reboot lag clears up the beta actually runs pretty well.

Looking forward to a revised build tonight though :)

To the other commentators, I echo many of the replies, if you don't work in software development or realise the purpose of a beta then you best wait until September - then you can complain about QA and the work done by this dev community in assisting Apple.
