They obviously weren’t going to release a third x.0 beta six days after beta 2. It’ll probably come next week.
They don't usually switch to weekly releases until beta 4, but Apple could surprise us with iOS 12 and switch to weekly releases with beta 3?

Very true... But Apple did say they are releasing the public beta in June. So that doesn’t give them much time, unless they are delaying the public beta.
Last year, iOS 11 beta 2 was released on June 21, the public beta was released on June 26, and beta 3 was released July 10.

We didn't have a potential major issue last year. And, we all should have learned by now that Apple is not sticking to any kind of formula for beta release dates. Literally any day (with obvious exceptions) is a candidate.

The questions are: does Apple consider the GPS and phone things to be major issues? Do they have some sort of fix to DP2 just to fix that? Is the end of the month Public Beta thing more important to Apple than these issues (assuming they do not have a fix yet)?

I always enjoy these moments more than I probably should.

Edit: A dev that I follow on Twitter (Guilherme Rambo) just tweeted that PB1 is the same as DP2.

I probably won’t be installing the iOS 12 public beta on my daily drivers, but I really want to try macOS Mojave on a separate partition on my MacBook Pro. So this is exciting!

That's wise, not installing it on your main device. I have a macbook air from 2011 which I use for media purposes. I will give Mojave a try on that. Very curious to try it out.

I suppose the GPS issue wasn’t that big of a deal after all unless there is an interim fix included. Anyone know if the build number is the same as the DP2?
