If there's truly a need for some sort of an urgent patch/fix, it's possible, although even then something like next week is still more likely even in a situation like that.
Um. Had this happen to me a few weeks ago and I went into the Apple store and they said yeah the display is defective let us replace it for free under warranty. They also mentioned it's been happening to other people so you may be in the same boat... I think it's worth heading to the store before your warranty expires.
My X-display got replaced for that reason. Happened incidentally on iOS 11. Display was defective from day 1.
Actually no, it started working when I got to the store (of course). But it had been working intermittently since the issue started two days prior. But they seemed certain it was a hardware issue based on a diagnostic and the info I provided about the phone's behavior.
