This pandemic has taught us that options are never a bad thing and what is best in one situation is useless in another. The technology now exists to provide both facial and in screen fingerprint authentication.

And before any smart ass says both methods don't work with a mask and gloves, I say: You can't use the phone with gloves on anyway. So don't be a smart ass. :)

I wouldn’t want an option that makes my phone less secure. Just type in the passcode.

I am finding my iPhone is not syncing Safari history items from iPad. Similarly iPad history items are not syncing it from iPhone.
waiting for more than 8 hours and still is not syncing.
restart, format, restore, logout / login all attempted to no avail.

Having slow connects to Wi-Fi, but the biggest problem I’m having is that the proximity works about 60% of the time on the phone. Mostly in the way that the screen doesn’t turn back on.

Well, Touch ID was secure enough for banking from 2013-2017 when it was the only Apple biometric and is still supported for banking to this day. That's secure enough for me.

Biometrics are more about convenience than they are about ultimate security (which doesn't exist unless you turn the phone off). I WOULD want the option. Typing in the passcode is so 2012.

I've been running my iPad Pro on the beta without any major issues, and this weekend I switched my iPhone 11 PM as well and it's running smooth so far. Battery seems to be slightly worse than 13.4.1 but not terrible.

Couldn't agree more. I was out yesterday for a couple hours with a mask on and probably put my 6 digit passcode in at least 20 times. That is ridiculous. Give us both options, especially since this thing isn't going away anytime soon.

While I'm on a phone call, iMessage seems to not work and defaults to sending messages via SMS. Anyone else have this issue on 13.5 B3?

FWIW, I’m using eSIM-only in my 11 Pro. Though I don’t think that should matter.

In the grand scheme of things, its gone soon enough. Apple is not going to change fundamental characteristics of its devices for a temporary condition. They might adjust the recognition algorithms but they’re not going to wake up one morning and say, “Gosh, we should spend millions re-engineering our devices for a once in a lifetime event.”

Any chance the inconsistent sounds are fixed on the iPhone 11 series like the loud lock sounds?

Must admit I do like the lock screen jumping straight to enter passcode when wearing a mask. Good move! If only Face ID could somehow recognise upper part of the face when wearing a mask that would be grand.

I’m not on the beta and the other day while wearing my mask at Popeyes I took my phone and upon turning my display on I noticed the lock icon was unlocked. I was like say wha?! So I tried it again and to my amazement FaceID unlocked with my mask. Naturally I was skeptical so I kept testing it and it kept working!!!

So FaceID must have finally learned my face with my mask on. I tried it with another mask that I had and it didn’t work. So make of that what you will but I’m stoked.

Anyone having issues with batery life? unplugged mine at 8 am and it is now 11:52 and is on red! weird none of the other betas drained battery like this one!

Yes...makes it so the window doesn’t expand when a person is speaking (when you click it off, that is)

Needed in larger calls, especially when people refuse to mute.

Not sure if you have ever been on a call with more than 5 people...on an iPhone...it's like fireworks going off on the screen except with images flying around.

FYI...I had a chance to try this out the other night with 7 people on at once (new Facetime "speaking" button to reduce the enlargement of the person speaking). It still makes the speakers window larger and non-speakers smaller, but everyone sort of just stays in the same spot. MUCH better!!!

Gone soon enough?? Lol look around dude this thing isn’t going away anytime soon. 12-18 months minimum. And believe me the tech is already there for Apple to do it. I would gladly pay a little more for the phone to have both options. And having both options would serve us not only through this trying time but in the future as well. Options are always a good thing.

Agree . This has been the smoothest version so far in iOS 13 on my iPhone XS Max .
battery life has been okay . Not too many bugs .
Before this, iphone xs are well known with micro stutter issue especially scrolling in certain apps. Has this been fix in this beta ? If yes, any setting have u changed ?

I wonder if memory management still sucks. Apps close a lot more often than they did in that version of 13 that was released specifically for memory management.

Touch ID is million times more secure than Face ID which is weakened to allow it to work with only your eyes (ie. wearing a mask).

If you don’t care about security then just switch your passcode off. Problem solved.
