Hi all just wanted to share my experience:

Updated my MacBook to macOS Catalina
Downloaded iOS 13 Beta 1 IPSW
Downloaded iOS 12.3.1 IPSW as a precaution
Backed up iPhone XS Max
From finder, I selected the iOS 13 IPSW file and updated my phone.
I then followed the usual prompts after the “hello” welcome screen.
Restored my phone via the back up (funny because it says restore using iTunes but iTunes dead, hehe)
I am now using it on my XS Max.
At the moment no issues, faceid is really fast.

I’ve never used a Mac book sorry to ask a stupid question but what is finder?

Looks like a placeholder graphic.

You're not a developer if you can't find the download. Next you're going to ask how to install it right?

are you this miserable and sassy in real life? gosh be kind, just because you're anonymous and on a keyboard doesn't mean you have to be a terrible human being.

Finder is sort of the home page, where you open new "Finder" windows that allow you to see files and folders and their hierarchy.

Oh ok well I’m going to try to update my phone later on today to see if I can figure it out. Would like to use my watch again lol.

They finally fixed the iOS 12 issue where double tapping on text that you’re typing in Safari would cause the page to zoom out, instead of selecting the text you want to edit.

(Its apples windows explorer)

On any screen with a keyboard open, you now can invoke a permanent new text selection ui. Just tap with three fingers on the screen

After almost 24 hours, I'd like to ask for feedback in some areas:

Does Wi Fi drop like it did in 12.3.1 on a XS?
Does battery make a difference with Dark mode on?
Is is fast and snappy?

Can someone with multiple devices/accounts, or that knows someone else on iOS 13, test what happens when you set an iMessage name/profile picture but the other person already has a name and profile picture set for you? Curious to see whether the profile you set for yourselves overrides what's on their device.

If that makes sense. Lol.

Does anybody know how to unpin the widgets on Springboad? I’ve decided I don’t care for them, but I don’t know to get rid of them.

I'm XS Max (don't know if that makes a difference) but I haven't had any drop outs.
Being a beta, it's kinda hard to tell whether battery is being affected by dark mode or just general beta battery. Don't know if it's something we can really determine yet.
Face ID certainly is!

Got the betas installed. Now I just need to watch the condensed version of the showcase to learn all those fancy new gestures haha

Oh and by the way, is QuickPath even in this beta? I’m dying to try it out.

The context menus are still there. It is just brought up via long press instead of 3D Touch.

Well what the heck! Why put hardware in a phone for 3D Touch and then just stop supporting it? Yeah, it’s not a big deal to most but there are also people that utilize it on a daily basis, like myself.

There are definitely pros and cons with upgrading. I love the speed increase with Face ID. Seems to be the only thing I like so far.

The iPad upgrade is where I’m focused on. I’m actually excited about that. iOS 13.... meh. Lack of 3D Touch is definitely an issue with me.

Rumours are 3D Touch will not be in the screens for the new iPhone models this year.

Guess the fact it is not in this beta substantiates that.

I was joking. I posted a screenshot of my homescreen with the bottom row intentionally left blank. This means I can restore my iPhone backup to any phone, regardless of screensize.

Incidentally, it's the same number of rows/columns on the iPad too. At least until iPadOS comes about and mucks it all up.
Judging by the way the first few pages on this thread sounded like, I couldn’t tell if you were kidding or not
