If your battery started to drain since 14.2/3/4, what phone do you have?

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone 6S and a battery with 98% battery health.

I noticed since 14.2 / 14.3 there has been a battery drain. I tried many things, such as disabling SiRi, location services etc, but nothing worked.

Through must testing, I tried the following and the battery drain stopped (while the screen is off). I went to bed with 95% and woke up with 95% battery life.

Here are the settings I changed:

Let me know if this helps. It worked on my iPhone.

It worked ok initially, then the drain appeared. I installed iOS14.4 public beta and was the same. I have reset the phone to factory settings and setup again without any apps installed. I suspect the issue is either:

- iOS14
- a third party app
- the phone battery (98% battery health, after resetting down to 96%)

Thank you for sharing this. I tried it on mine 3h ago and I still have the same issue.
I still think that it's something related to how the battery is read. I mean, I had 73%, rebooted the phone and got 83%. Then the battery started going down to 76% in real time. By this I mean that I could literally see the percentage going down every second.
I think that this iOS 14.2 and 14.3 are just a massive dumpster fire unfortunately.

Here is my battery for today. It’s on decreased a few percent from 7am to 3pm. A big improvement.

I agree though. 14.2 and 14.3 are the issue. I shouldn’t have to play around with the settings.

So basically it’s just turn off Auto-Play Vides and Show Holiday events? I need to have Keep Originals checked.

and also:

- turn off optimised battery charging
- turn off iMessage (icloud)

Thanks ! I will also try this, I have no more ideas to try now so those tips are welcome This over night drain is driving me crazy because it’s so random and I have different drain every night.

the turn off for optimized charging doesn't sound very logical
Personally, I wouldn't recommend turning off optimized charging. You need to let your device learn the charging pattern.

We survived perfectly fine for years without it. The manual version is to unplug when it’s gets to 80-90%

Again, we shouldn’t have to do this. But it’s a work around till Apple fix this stupid iOS14.

Honestly, I tried everything, but this combination works. To wake up with the percentage has not happened since iOS13.

For me it didn’t change much at all. I did notice that this drain gets worse when I have a lot of apps “open”. So by dismissing different windows it seems that the drain is smaller.

Here is my drain from last night to now. You can see it’s acting as it should rather than randomly draining.

I have an iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 14.3 on the Verizon network. Turning off the Optimized Battery Charging setting has definitely helped! Like many of you my battery level was just dropping at random times during the day (without any activity) and turning off this setting seems to have stopped it!

Thanks for the suggestion and I'll update this post if anything changes.

** UPDATE **

Sad to report that the battery drain has returned today. Back to the drawing board.
