Somehow I became “the blank bar guy” during the iOS 14.5 beta cycle.

I was happy to let someone else report it for 14.6, but nobody said anything.

Guess I’ll take on that role again for another cycle, but I’m not gonna do it for iOS 15.

You know when to cut the losses and start calling it a feature by Apple. :D

When you open a text thread in messages, especially when a photo was sent last… the keyboard/app tray will flash and be blank b4 something pops up. Just weird. Pretty annoying but nothing game changing.
I don’t have that. Normal for me.

Anyone have any guesses on whether or not the iOS 15 betas will come out before this beta cycle ends? Debating if I want to jump onto this one or if I want to hop off the beta train until the summer...

If it’s on your main device, and I do it, all the years doing this has taught me to hold off till beta 2-3, depending on what’s the chat like on here. Nothing worse than apps you need daily not working. IOS 13 screwed all my banking apps till about B3. That was 6 or so weeks. I wanted to poke myself in the eyes with a blunt stick by the end of it.

Connectivity seems better first thing. Always a good test on my 12 when I’ve woken up to try my BBC weather app. Last firmware I just got spinning wheel and the a no connection window. Could be the app mind. But I’m not seeing any fails to connect to… windows in apps too. That firmware update might have tweaked it 🤞🏼

My guess, and that's all it is, is that iOS 14.6 and MacOS 11.4 were probably built/forked from a beta build prior to the latest one in both cases.

In other words, I'd not expect to see any fixes in 14.6 and 11.4. This would also imply that any fixes which appeared in the last 14.5 and 11.3 betas may be rolled-back. For MacOS you're getting AMD drivers. For iOS, you're getting ..... dunno. I've not watched that video above.

But I'm hopeful for some fixes in iOS 14.6 beta 2 and MacOS 11.4 beta 2!

It's a shame Apple's release notes don't contain more info.

Benchmark on my 12 for B1, and things will change I know, this is a beta, but might just account for the snappier fell some users are feeling, is higher on the single core from the RC.

The biggest problem I had before was with 5G connection not loading any data randomly and now everything’s working as it should with this new modem update.
That's exciting, that has been persistent since the day I got the phone!
Been using my Pixel when travelling, sharing data to the iPhone, not the way around it should be.

What’s the modem firmware for a 12? Maybe they’ve finally made my provider better. I’m sick and tired of Verizon. Since I’ve gotten this phone, they’ve been garbage. I had a Verizon USB modem today that I plugged into a laptop and did a google speedtest. I got about 17 down and 9 up. I ran the exact same speedtest at the exact same time with my 12 Pro and got about 2 down and 6 up. My iPhone X, I swear, worked a lot better. Meanwhile my boss has a 12 Pro Max and did a speedtest and got 180 down and I didn’t pay attention to his up. He’s on AT&T.
Zero problems with my 12 Pro and Verizon. Data is always 20+Mbps and snappy. Very pleased with the performance.

I have never seen this
It only happens if you leave the app drawer on in messages. The black bar is simply the app drawer loading and it temporarily makes the whole bottom of the message thread UI black for a split second. If you just always hide the app drawer, it never happens.

What do you mean by hiding the app drawer? What’s weird is I have not found why it happens, it happens randomly. It can happen texting some via iMessage, then it doesn’t happen for awhile, or when you text someone w out an iPhone it happens more often it seems. Also, if the last message was a picture that was sent it tends to happen A LOT at that point in time. Weird UI visual bug. Nothing show stopping. I’m open to trying anything for this to not happen as much! LOL thanks!

Ad Tracking can now be turned off globally instead of each app asking. It was in 14.5 but grey'd out. Now you can toggle the switch.

The thing is... that option is already on 14.4.2 (settings > privacy > tracking > Allow apps to ask tracking) , but I’m not sure if it works the same way as in 14.5 if it’s disabled, can anyone bring some light to this?
