Needless to say, the blank bar bug in the Messages app is still present.

It’s actually come to be one of my favorite iOS features. Hope it never gets fixed.
I rarely see that happen on my 11 Pro. About once every couple weeks or so

I know what I am about to say is time-consuming, but would you do a full restore from an IPSW and check this without downloading your usual apps first? Then, download one or two apps and try each time? I now think you will find an app that is integrating with Messages and some rogue code somewhere is causing this issue for you.

Haha no thanks.

Thank you! Looks like the modem has actually moved forward on b2 - from the 14.7 b1 of 1.70.03 (which was a regression from 14.6 RC2 of 1.71.01). Yea!
That is what normally happens- the beta 1 of subsequent release lags a bit from the immediately prior public release. Its the beta 2 which advances over the public release.

I agree.

Haha no thanks.
Can you explain again the procedure to make this happen? I will try reproducing on 14.6.

Just do a search for “blank bar.”

This has honestly been explained at least a dozen times, with screen shots, and I just don’t have the energy to do it anymore.
Do you have any pinned convos? I have 6, maybe that helps prevent the issue?

Nope, no pinned convos.

Only third party app in my Messages App Store is GIPHY.

This is the last iOS 14 beta I’ll download since iOS 15 will release to developers next week, and I’ve already vowed to never bring up the “blank bar” subject again after iOS 14, so this is the last you’ll ever hear about this issue from me.

Carry on, all!

This is the absolute last time I’m doing this.

Sometimes when you open a conversation thread in the Messages app, the bottom of the screen appears like this for half a second:

Pinned convos is built in I believe, not third party. I’d say give it a try 😊
Correct. I was stating two different thoughts.

No, I do not pin conversations.

Also, I don’t have any third party iMessage App Store apps installed other than GIPHY (because someone suggested there may be some third party app contributing to the issue)

Nothing like that in darkmode… keeping my eyes open everytime but I’m not getting that on either XS or 12

OK, yeah I have never seen this, even when I was on the beta train. There have been times though when I had to disable iMessage in Settings because Text Message forwarding was not working to my Macs. Also, I was not able to set "Start New Conversations From" to be my phone number and not my email address. Disabling and re-enabling iMessage cleared this up for me and was an easy fix. Worth trying if you haven't already.
