What surprises me is there’s no widget for phone or messages, 2 of the biggest apps you use on the phone per say....

I would expect it in a later beta. We've had a new widget on the last beta and this one, so there's time. I expect Apple to replace each one of their stock ones that existed in the old style.

Yes, but with Apple, chances are higher that by the time iOS 14 comes out my alarm won’t go off and millions of people will be late for work. It happened three times already in the past.
i’m sorry, i’m a software engineer, and i know a thing or two about beta’s. I also know how trivial it is to program a damn clock! This is really a joke!

Works fine on mine.

Third party programs will have widget too?

Yup, they will, Developers cannot submit apps with iOS 14 things until late August & Apple won't release those updates until the week before the release.

This is, of course, assuming that the iOS release will be in mid-September. Not sure that's going to be the case. We shall see!

The battery widget is showing the battery level for the AirPods case. I know it did that with the old battery widget in iOS 13, but this is my first time seeing it in the new widget.
It did it in B2, but it only does it when the case is open or if you’re using the headphones.

My 2020 SE is going through "Intentando recuperar datos" right now, just as it did with iOS 14 DB 2 when it was brand new out of the box two weeks ago.

My iPhone 8 updated from DB 2 to DB 3 without issue, as did my iPad Pro 11 (2nd Gen).
Boo I was looking for this before asking :( It only happens on the SE2020, and it is always updated after. It seemed to be faster going to DB2, so I will have to actually time it this time.

So the weather widget has been removed completely? In the shop for repairs perhaps?🤣
It's gotten so hot it probably overheated it :(

I don't see why not. It's not reliant on release new devices. Plus, Apple's website says Autumn, as it always does.

I didn't know that too, so we can see this widgets at the final release.

Autumn is September to December, so ye... doesn't have to be September for sure. While I'm thinking iOS will probably be released in September, macOS seems less likely to be released then. We shall see.

They will start coming out in the week leading up to iOS 14's official release. Though, not every developer will be working on them yet, so you might see some not come out for ages, depending on the developers. If there's apps you're wanting Widgets for, contact those Apps developers on social media and ask them for them to support it 😀

Initial thoughts;
  • Weather app appears fixed
  • Widgets load correctly (although weather widget needed deleting first time)
  • Multiple email select dragging one finger is back YAY!
  • Edit button added back to bottom of widget screen which fixes the empty space that was visible in B2
So far, happy with this.

They said Autumn for the last few iOS releases. MacOS is always later though, from what I remember.

So, I've seen 2 reboots on iPhone, none on iPad yet. Possibly happening less than Beta 2..... but too soon to tell. Will see tomorrow, when I attempt to join the morning meeting on Teams, as that is usually a good candidate for it rebooting lol.

While this happened a few years ago also, each Beta has actually gotten a little worse. iPadOS Beta 3 is almost unusable for me now, where as beta 1 was great. For me, none of the widgets show now, the favorites bar in safari will still not show unless I toggle it on and off, and even then it goes away again shortly thereafter. Weather app is now gone completely, not just as a widget, it's gone. It is also not in App Store to re-add it.

I just want to see Whatsapp, i think they knows everyone want that widget. :D

So... the second hand on my clock widget is about 15 seconds behind the actual system time. (What's the point of putting it on there if it's not going to keep up?)

Doesn't hurt to nudge them on Twitter or something..... WhatsApp were a bit slow with Dark Mode, so I suspect they might be with the widget too.

People have made that comment, and it's a beta, so there's still things to work out. Widgets have a proven history in the betas so far to be a bit sluggish.

In order to get my weather widget to work i had to reboot my phone after the update (fixed black box) then I went into edit the weather widget and selected a specific location (rather than "my location"). That filled in the graphic, i then went back into edit and switched it back to "my location". Working fine for me now.

Huzzah!!! My “other” storage went from over 133GB+ on beta 1 & 2 to just under 6GB on beta 3! Somebody get those Apple devs some safe and socially distanced home delivered drinks!

Just wanted to add info about my iPad, too:

I know it’s probably been said already as I haven’t made it thru all of the comments yet, but “so far so good!”. Still too early to tell overall, though.

Have tried rebooting several times now... cannot get weather widget to reappear on iPad Pro (11”) - since there’s no accompanying weather app on iPadOS, I guess I’m just SOL until the next round, or it decides to want to show up again. Meh...

Is this update not OTA? I just got home plugged in my phone and checked but it says I’m up to date.

You're right if someone doesn't nudge them they will be move slowly...

When you start an argument with „i‘m a software engineer“ chances are high you aren‘t or are pretty early into your dev career (or far along but stuck in a dead end with no promotion in sight).
Same goes for calling programming a clock in a gigantic pile of closed source code you had no access to or know the inner workings of „trivial“.
