What’s the easiest way to sort this?

Re-install from ipsw and then just log in from iCloud?

I’ve only ever done OTA

Woah, that is a lot of system data, lol. I have found that simply connecting the phone to a computer and opening itunes or finder seems to clear most of that out. Most likely it is mainly diagnostic logs, although I would think at 145GB, it is excessive.

you're telling me! I've got it connected now and it seems stuck at 'copying diagnostic information' I wonder why ?

haha, dang. Hopefully it will offload it from your phone though. If not, an IPSW restore will probably do the trick but I think that is more than what is needed, lol.

yeah, that is what I am thinking! I know how to do the ripsaw but I once it's installed can I just then use the iCloud backup or will that put the problem back on? Or should I just log back into iCloud and download all the apps again?

interestingly connected it to my Mac seems to have sorted it, it's gone from iOS 9.4gb System Data 145.9gb down to iOS9.14gb and system data 10.03gb which seems a lot more normal to me!!

Download the beta your ons IPSW.
Go to finder, hold alt and click restore, select the IPSW.
Then use the Full backup you would have made to your computer, before you started this process, when prompted.

I did it this way and my SD went from 12 gigs down to 3.

Glad to hear that you solved the issue but I don't think the backup will bring it all back but I am not sure.

I’m team OTA as well, isn’t IPSW meant to be a cleaner install though?
I don't see why it would be. Maybe doing a complete wipe, upgrade then restore makes things a bit cleaner for an hour or so until the caches build up again, but that's about it.

I think some people just like cables. Maybe they don't even use WiFi or Bluetooth and just connect their phone permanently to their laptop.

Did he promise you an iPhone 14 Pro max in return for 500K subs? He did me. 🤣 he’s playing us.
Yep, promised me a 12 Pro Max last year without green tint, we all know how that went lol.

How's battery life on beta 5?

You still living large in Mayfair? Or 🐊

I’m currently in Western Europe battery life on beta 5 not sure to be honest. Meaning if it’s any better or worse than previous builds or not. It might be my imagination but noticed the phone doesn’t get warm when heavily used lately. ( Wi-Fi ). When in cold climates the slight warm feeling of the iPhone is noticeable.

OTA replaces only the files that are new.

IPSW wipes the iOS, and installs the new copy.

Much cleaner. OTA is saving files over files over files. Better, IMO and the reduced bugs I have, to have the iOS as a complete bundle.

Disclaimer: as far as I’m aware on the subject. Please correct me if I’m wrong or I’m out of date.
