Battery is draining at a crazy rate after the update to 15.6!

I fully charged my phone last night, haven’t used it more than an average day, and I’m already at 19% at only 6:30 pm. I usually can go to bed at midnight and still have 30-40% left! I hope this gets better in a few days. I don’t even know how to go backwards (roll back) to an iOS. I may have to figure out a way if this keeps up.
Take a look and see what it says is using the battery. Try and close all apps then reboot the device. Also it takes a while for a new update to settle and sync. There is no inherent battery drain issue with iOS 15.6 so there is some issue going on with your device you need to pinpoint.

iPhone 11 here with 90% maximum capacity and my battery life has been amazing so far with iOS 15.6.

Mind you, I am very big on turning all unnecessary features off and running low power mode all the time.

Also, my phone dropped 4% overnight.

I never use low power mode. I can just tell doing the normal things I do, it’s draining quicker. It’s been a long time since I didn’t make it a full day on a full charge (already red battery at 6:30 ish as I mentioned). Something isn’t right. Only happened after I updated.

I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence as I know there was an article about this a few months back but after upgrading I'm not having many issues of cellular data dropping after switching it back on from Airplane+Wifi on T-mobile (e-sim)

This update is making my 13 pro max hot all the time and using YouTube for 15min dims the screen, this different happen on 15.5

When you update your iOS is still running scrips in the background. It will get better as the days go by.

There doesn't appear to be confirmation of this anywhere that I can find, rather a wide belief that iOS "re-indexes" after an update. Who knows.

So far no battery drain noticed on my 13 PM. In fact, it might have gotten better (Thursday onwards).

Hi, I also face standby drain on my 13 PM, check the screenshot.
I'll let it settle for some days and if it doesn't get better I'll get back to 15.5

Not every update surely. There might be some reindex “timer” which activates after an update when a certain time has elapsed since the last reindex. Also, .0 updates like 14.0, 15.0, 16.0 probably always does this.

Overnight standby drain seems to be common to the 13 series.

I have been experiencing the same issues ever since iOS 15.4.1

A iCloud signout and sign in temporarily fixes it

That is totally untrue.

Show proof.
While Craig himself has not said so that I am aware of, here is an article from a couple ex Apple employees (one who states he worked on iOS framework) who indicate it is true. That and the fact that most here see lag and drain for a few hours after an update that seems to settle down after a period of time seems to be evidence as well that something is processing.

I've noticed bad overnight battery drain ever since 15.5. I left my phone off the charger last night with 100% and this morning it was at 80%. This has continued with 15.6.

Well, my battery 'drain' is fantastic. Charged to 80%, went to bed, 9 hours later it was 79%. I can't grumble at that.

Yes coz you left it idle right after you charged it. Try doing the same while your phone has left the charger for a couple of hours. Then you will feel what overnight DRAIN really means!
Measuring the drain right after charging is misleading

Drain is drain.

Charged to 80% Sun 22:22. It’s now Mon 21:34 and it’s still at 58%. And it’s been in use all day.
Hmm I see. could you provide a screenshot of your batter stats? Thanks.
Are you on Wifi/data, indoors-outdoors.

It is a mix, but mainly mobile. As you can see. It is still doing brilliantly. It’s a day after my initial post. Tuesday 15:04.
