In Safari? I can.
Yeah, it’s strange but oddly repeatable. I even tried it on other websites that might contain the text “police” to make sure it wasn’t isolated to one website.

I go to a webpage I want to search that presumably contains the word “police” somewhere, I type “police” into the safari search bar, I tap the button that says “Find Police” and it just closes out and goes back to the webpage, as if I never searched for nothing at all.

I haven’t encountered any other word that seems to trigger this behavior, any other word I search for pulls up that little thing on the bottom that lets you shuttle ^ v between the “XX out of YY results”

I’m sticking to the OTA updates here on. Was having flatter lines after the update but they’ve been getting curvier after the IPSW update. A repeat didn’t help either with the idle drain.

Yes that’s because on the first screenshot you took it right off the charger and stayed idle, whereas on the second one it’s the usual overnight drain just like mine does

I was thinking about updating to 15.6

However, several comments on another blog pointed towards a memory leak present in iOS 15.5 and all the betas of 15.6, a memory leak affecting the springboard UI, and made the phone laggy after a couple of days without a restart/reboot.

One of them even talked to an Apple engineer during the WWDC, and this engineer told him that this was solved on iOS 16. Other iOS 16 beta testers have confirmed that it is solved on iOS 16, but apparently not on 15.6

Has anyone heard about this system’s memory leak? Any clue about wether it is finally fixed on 15.6 or could be fixed on further iOS 15 updates? Thank you

PS: I am on 15.4.1 and this memory leak isn’t present on this version. Apparently it was introduced on iOS 15.5… But I would need more info.

I think you're reading it in reverse. The second was the one with OTA. Not much drain overnight. The first was after IPSW x2. Draining much more than it did with OTA.

Am I the only one who never gets any battery issues; or are people overthinking it??
I’ve never had any battery issues either. My wife had an issue because of the Facebook app several years ago, it was a known battery hog at that time. I had an issue years ago because of a navigation app that eventually was corrected. Neither of us have had an issue since. She doesn’t do betas but I do and almost all newly installed betas will increase battery usage initially but settles down in a day or two, actually that is true of any new major iOS release.

I see all these posts freaking out about the location arrow icon always being on and draining the battery. With all the functions and apps I have enabled to use location my arrow is permanent, never goes off, it’s either hollow or occasionally solid. Never a battery issue. But I do frequently replace my phone so I am using “younger” batteries than some are.

My son reported to me he encounters a bug with the keyboard. There is a lag between each tap which was not present in previous version (15.5).
This is annoying.

Does anyone observed the same behavior?

Which keyboard? On which device? I use both a Magic Keyboard and a Smart Keyboard folio on a 12.9 iPad Pro. No lags in 15.6 or ever actually. Perhaps just restart the device.

Which device? I’m really waiting to hear more opinions before updating from 15.4.1

Has anyone read more about the memory leak? Thank you

Hi, I also face standby drain on my 13 PM, check the screenshot.
I'll let it settle for some days and if it doesn't get better I'll get back to 15.5
It got better eventually. 1 week after updating, I charged it overnight. Its currently 30 hours since unplugging, with 6 hours of SOT, with mixed data and Wi-Fi usage

Am I the only one who never gets any battery issues; or are people overthinking it??

In the vast majority of cases, people are overthinking it. In the early days of smartphones when you could only get a few hours of use and they rarely made it through a workday, battery life was a big issue. This, however, conditioned people to always obsess over the battery life to this day even though phones today can easily last a full day outside of doing heavy lifting like gaming. Every time there's a new update people are paying more attention to the battery life than before, and this combined with the fact that the phone does a lot of behind the scenes work after updating leads to complaints about degraded battery life with every. single. update.

I do have to wonder what it will take to stop this.

Never had any battery issues in any of my iPhones and I've had pretty much every one since the 3GS.
I started with the original 2007 iPhone. Never had a battery issue except once because of one gps app that was addressed by the app provider.

RAM management is a mess on my 13 Pro Max. Safari is constantly reloading tabs, other apps are refreshing all the time, Instagram and Tweetbot doesn’t load fast. All very slow or no load.

I am in the same boat. No issue on 15.4.1. I may upgrade when iOS 16.5 was released (maybe around early next year) as I am not in a hurry.

I haven’t had any significant issues in 15 on my 13 Pro Max. The minor ones were all fixed in 15.5. 15.6 has been butter smooth. I’m certain under specific circumstances with some users there may be issues but for most it’s a very stable release.

I have restored my phone 2 months ago and restart it time by time. But no change. I don’t know why. Let’s hope for iOS 16 in September.

Who knows, maybe Apple will release iOS 15.7 eventually -before the iOS 16 release-. I am not eager to update to iOS 16 because, honestly, on my iPhone 8 I don’t expect the best performance. Also, the new lock-screen looks really good on the FaceID models. So, if we don’t get iOS 15.7, I’m staying on iOS 15.4.1

I'm using 15.6 on my iPhone 13; unfortunately the "Home & Lockscreen"-Section is always showing up on my phone battery- even if the phone is idle and not touched and notficiations are turned off. But that's not bothering me, I got the same behaviour on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

What is really bothering me, is that i'm loosing battery 1% per hour. I don't know why, the first 12-18hrs the phone was literally sticking to 100% and afterwards it's going down. And even here; i don't use the iPhone 13 in between, it's just laying there.
