Good point. But it seems like these updates are only focused on security patches and vulnaribilities. I'm sure Apple would encourage people to upgrade to iOS 16.Here’s a list of iOS 12 updates iPhone 5s and 6 received between the release of iOS 13 in September 2019 and iOS 15 in September 2021
2019:
12.4.2 (September 26)
12.4.3
12.4.4
2020:
12.4.5
12.4.6
12.4.7
12.4.8
12.4.9
12.5
2021:
12.5.1
12.5.2
12.5.3
12.5.4
12.5.5 (September 23)
Devices stuck on iOS 15 can continue to get security updates for a year or two. But of course, Apple won’t tell us if they have decided to do so, we just have to let September pass and see what happens.
Whilst I’m on 16.1 beta still the battery is better on 15.7Most likely but you never know for sure.
When 16.1 is out there is not really a reason to stay with iOS 15 when your phone supports the new version.
Likely to see some security updates for a while, so like 15.7.X depending on what's needed. So iOS 15.7 seems to be the final version of iOS 15?
Agreed. I'm surprised my backup phone 6S is still being kept up to date. But then I'm also surprised how well my iPhone 11 performs running iOS 17.IOS 15.8 is out!.
Very impressive.
Given Google now promising seven years of updates for the Pixel, I can't say I'm too surprised! Apple for the first time in a long time isn't assured of being head of the pack on updates.IOS 15.8 is out!.
Very impressive.
SMH at people posting in this thread.
To be fair, it is quite impressive from Apple to keep updating iOS 15 with security patches after both iOS 15 and 16 have ended their cycle. If I had an iPhone 7 or any other device that lost support with iOS 15 I would beSMH at people posting in this thread.
