I really can’t believe that we are stuck on beta 3 with no support for the battery pack. If the public beta wasn’t out I could understand it but with it being dev and public betas out, this is so ridiculous.
Apart from not having the right animation, the battery pack still works. ?‍♂️ apple isn't going to rush a beta just because it's not displaying the right animation for a battery pack.

They have more important things to fix, like my stuck safari address bar once you use the keyboard, and missed call badge not disappearing after viewing recent calls. ?‍♂️?

As said before, Apple has no requirement to support new things to the public in a Beta. We've had a similar situation before, many times, when the Public release had something that was not in a DB or PB until the next DB/PB build came.

Apple clearly state what a beta is and not everything will be supported. Why should they change their release schedule by a week for some public beta users that seem to not understand what being in a beta program entails?

What's ridiculous is people having a whinge about it, when a new build is not far away.

It’s a little more than that unfortunately. Reverse wireless charging the battery pack does not work. And in my opinion the battery pack is draining very fast, however I can’t test that until it is properly supported. I didn’t expect them to rush a new beta for the battery pack but instead have it ready for it lol.

Please don’t misunderstand what I said. I have ran betas for the last 5 years so this is not new to me.

Please don’t misunderstand what I said. I have ran betas for the last 5 years so this is not new to me. Beta 3 came out after 14.7 did so that’s why I feel it should have been included.

iOS 15 will have branched off from iOS 14 at a point, and in a later beta, it will roll up any bits required. Standard Beta practice. Beta 3’s build was from 5th July (so Devs were 9 days behind the internal version at that point). 14.7 RC was 21st June, the public release was a new build which is likely to be approx 1 week after (I’ve not seen confirmation of the Kernel build yet, it’s not on Banglazed’s post or anywhere else I trust for that info), so that would have been June 28th or so.

There’s NO WAY that they would have merged the functionality in that short gap, it would have been crazy. You might see it in the next Beta, but it’s not guaranteed. Apple will need to merge it in and ensure it does not cause any issues internally, before they allow it to go in a DB & PB. Any developer would know this.

It would have been built into iOS 14.7, and tested through that. Once finalised, they would then integrate and test within iOS 15.0. For it to have been in iOS 15 DB3, they would have to have wasted time doing 2 parallel processes for 1 item, wasting their time.

Basically, it doesn’t matter when DB3 came out, in relation to iOS 14.7. Apple has no reason to support new hardware that comes out during a beta period. They provide a warning that things might not be supported and so it’s on the user if they join it and things don’t work they way they should.

That‘s implying they have only just „now“ finalized the battery pack software support. Wouldn‘t be surprised if they had that done for a long while now but kept tucked away from prying eyes (15 beta builds) as to not leak the release date of the pack. Probably a purely political reason to not add support for the pack in Beta 3.

Yea, could also be that too. We don’t know which way it is really.

Either way, no one should expect Apple to release a beta outside their normal schedule just to support hardware, when it’s not required for the beta.

As I’ve said, and you’ve been around for it, we’ve had a similar situation before, many times over the last few years where the public release has support for something that wasn’t in the Dev/Public beta and we got it in a subsequent beta build, that was not rushed out early to support said thing.

Compelling counter.

I see it being inconvenient, maybe even "annoying"...but does it work for its primary purpose? Can you use it? Only the animation is missing? You have an opinion that it's draining "very fast" (Relative to what, it just came out, what's your frame of reference here)? On beta software? Perhaps for less than a week until the next update?

In light of all that, do you think "so ridiculous" might possibly be a bit...hyperbolically absurd?

You know people like you are the reason why I don’t really post much to the forums. You are just here to down people and try to belittle people so at this time I am going to stop even saying anything. Have a great day.

I'm not here to "down/belittle people". You posted a strong take, stand behind it. I am taking issue with your argument, not you as a person. Do you consider that difference?

You're claim is that it is "ridiculous"—deserving or inviting derision or mockery; absurd—that Apple didn't include "full support" (although it still works) in their literal beta software for something that has been available for purchase for less than 10 days.

I and other posters are simply pointing out that this is—absent a more fleshed out rationale from you—an unreasonably strong take, once all the related factors surrounding software development and expectations about beta software are taken into account.

Furthermore, you opine that the battery pack is draining too fast, even though it appears that, in such a short time...you don't have a frame of reference to be able to make that comparison. If that is an incorrect assumption, please correct it. Did you, for instance...run the battery pack on the 14.7 non-beta software for a few cycles, then switch to using it on iOS 15 Beta 3, and notice a significant increase in discharge rate? That would substantiate your take, if it was done. My inference from your post was that it wasn't, although I certainly allow the space to be incorrect.

I come to this and other discussion forums, to you know...discuss. That can and often does involve anyone's points being subject to certain levels of scrutiny (otherwise, why discuss?).

If you can't or don't want to answer contrary points in a discussion to address possible scrutiny, that is certainly your choice...but please don't turn my presentation of counterpoints into some sort of speculation about character assassination.

Thanks, hope you have a great day as well.

Spot-on. Apple owe sweet FA to beta testers. You sign up for the programme, you take the risks that come with it! If you don’t like this, you should not be running a beta.

Anyway I’m guessing next week and if by some miracle the first direct app works I’m on it sharp-style!
