When the phone came back from the update, it froze upon me entering my 4-digit PIN. I couldn't get it to unfreeze. Eventually, it went to a white screen with the message "Attempting to Recover Data".
That had a progress bar that moved like a glacier, but my phone did eventually come back to life. Took about an hour.
Has this update improved battery life with anyone else? I have a 15 pro, it’s 3pm and battery percentage is at 91%. I find this quite remarkable, normally it should be at around 70% now. Maybe the calibration is wrong but I sure hope not.
Same here with my 14Pro and APP1I have an iPhone 14 Pro. This started happening in iOS 17.1 but it is also happening in iOS 17.1.1. Basically, if I am in the Music app with my AirPods Pro connected (haven't tried without them) and I press the volume up button to max out the volume, when the volume maxes out, I am supposed to get a haptic feedback. However, instead of the intended hapic feedback, *sometimes* the haptic motor goes crazy and makes a "buzzing" sound/feedback instead as if it is malfunctioning. Anyone else with this issue?
Anyone had this issue with Apple Home invites?Well, just moved across the US to Virginia. Decided to setup the new house using everything HomeKit compatible. Logitech Circle View Doorbell, Circle View camera, Leviton Decora 2nd gen WiFi light dimmers, etc. Then tried to share My Home in the Home app with my wife so sent her an invitation. On her devices, they absolutely couldn’t accept the invitation. Searched the web and tried many supposed fixes to no avail.
Yesterday, updated to 17.1.1 on my IP14PM and her IP13 PM and iPad Air 4. Tried one more time and voila, invite accepted and everything now shows up in the Home app on both of her devices. Thanks Apple - really.
Anyone else had issues sharing My Home in the Home app with 17.1 and/or 17.1.1??
Wow! Wonder if this update has focused on the A17 Pro devices, because on older models the efficiency has not improved from what I’ve seen on some test.I am thoroughly impressed with the battery life, this is actually insane. At 9pm I still have 74% battery left on my 15 pro. Otherwise I would have around 40% left. This is nearly a doubling of battery life, what did this update do?!
Test it with the same configuration that you had in the shop (which i guess is a clean device) with your home Wifi.Good news, possibly bad news, but hopefully more on the good side.
Been having WiFi speed issues and took my phone in a couple weeks back to have it tested. The Apple Store is not close.
On testing they found that my device (256GB TiBlue) would peak at max 800MB down but predominately maxed at 400-600. Apple Store called and it is in. Leaving shortly to get it. I plan on having it tested in store.
Crossing fingers it fixes that issue.
Update: Got my replacement device yesterday. Set it up and tested it in store (as new) and in test the best it would do is 800MB down on a 1GB system. Would peak at 900MB down. I took it as it was much better than my original device. The gent in store had a 1TB Natural and it would consistently score >900MB down.
Got it home and reset it and loaded my backup. Tested it on my 1GB system, similar to in the store it scored 700-800 MB down and 40-50 MB up.
The store was unable to shed any light on why the inconsistency in WiFi speeds.
Now I am hoping the reset and new device might fix some of the bugs I have been seeing. TWT.
Same here. And even worse for watchOS, which was specifically supposed to address this.battery is worse for me on this update![]()
Test it with the same configuration that you had in the shop (which i guess is a clean device) with your home Wifi.
A reset of the router might also be a good idea, try and force if on the 5ghz band if you have that.
Can you see what frequency band your iPhone are using on your home router?Appreciate the suggestions.
I did before I restored it. After restore it was the same. Result at home mirrored what was displayed at the Apple Store test.
Mine is a combo modem/router and I have reset it more than once. I’ll try it one more time tomorrow.
Biggest issue has been that of all the devices in my house, the 15PM is the slowest on WiFi.
I’m not going to mess with it much more. I despise having to jump through hoops just for one device when everything else works just fine. At least this new device is running better than the original. Still the slowest but better.
Can you see what frequency band your iPhone are using on your home router?
See if you can force it using 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz and see if its any different. Also check on the router side what type of connection the router sees it as. (AC, AX, MIMO support etc).
Can you try 5ghz @80 using one of the upper channels(149-165) for your control channel? Wireless @160MHz bandwidth degrades signal much much more than @80MHz at distances.Took a look and ran a few more tests.
using ax @ 160
My router is a single multi-band and I don’t have a way unless I split it to force it to 5 or 2.4
Router sees it as an ax
Now here is something I found during testing today. I was using my 15 ProMax and my S23 Ultra.
When less than 10 feet from the router both devices scored 800/50 in most cases (or close).
Greater than 20 feet from the router the 15PM would drop to under 500/40 consistently and would drop back to 5 at times. The S23U stayed 700-800/45-50 and on 6.
For a 1800 sq foot ranch style (single floor) open concept house, mesh is not that much of a benefit especially when it is only the 15PM that is having issues.
Anyway, thanks for the questions and I will have to live with my 15PM being the slowest device.
Here are the test results - all are 6ghz unless indicated.

Don't know where else to post this so will slide it in here
Have a new 15 PM. Less than a week old. Fully updated to 17.1.1.
Today I took it out to take a picture of an event ticket and the camera absolutely would not focus. The main camera kept glitching to the macro setting but would not centre the image and it kept freezing. Exiting out of camera and restarting camera didn't fix. Then noticed that the main camera also wouldn't focus on something right in front of me.
Rebooted the phone and everything is fine now (so obviously a software glitch) but this has NEVER happened on any previous iPhone I have owned.
Can you try 5ghz @80 using one of the upper channels(149-165) for your control channel? Wireless @160MHz bandwidth degrades signal much much more than @80MHz at distances.
Unfortunately I cannot do that unless I split the 2.4/5/6 into separate WiFi ids. As far as I know the iPhone does not have a way to limit it to only 5 if the WiFi id contains 2.4/5/6. I am very hesitant to do a split as I would have to undo it to support my home/office setup.
If a way can be found to limit the 15PM to just 5 I am open to trying.
I actually have split my wifi setup. For all the modern devices (MacBooks, iPhones, iPads) I have a 5 GHz-only network so I never have any doubt that I only get the best performance. And for legacy and IoT devices I have a 2.4/5 GHz mixed network.
What's holding you back exactly from trying to split the networks as well?
