I've never really had any issues with any betas until CarPlay Siri wasn't working well in all these betas. But 17.4 has been the worst for me so far even after setting up as new. From Lock Screen passcode being asked for every so often due to a change in passcode (never changed) to other apps "breaking" like new SMS or email tones not sounding (not stock sounds), Dictation or 3rd party PingID deregistering. Also, macOS continually unpairing the unlock option on my :apple: Watch. 🤷‍♂️ I should just restore from backup from 16 but I know there was a problem in there somewhere too.

Most of my issues typically have been more annoyance than work flow impact.
Well except for the Mail / Exchange issue…..
and the missing messages ….

and lately that lack of consistent notification between 15PM and AWU (and iPad Pro)
and silent texts/calls that have custom ring-tones so you miss the communication
and ….

p.i.t.a. is a good term for it.

Or corrupt software. Or some issue with other apps you have installed. Or something with your configuration.
Even after DFU reset with no 3rd party apps installed I had this issue. So I guess hardware…

Also I have weird bug with Apple Pay. It just doesn’t always work. Sometimes it just shows “hold near reader” and nothing happens. Never faced this issue with my Apple Watch and my previous iPhone

I have same issue. First animation of dynamic island is laggy.
I noticed that closing all applications fixes this issue. Also when all apps are closed the whole OS works much faster and smoother.

So almost 2k$ phone can’t handle apps in background or what ? 😂
I have never faced anything like that on my iPhone 11.

This makes me think that these lags can happen because of some hardware issues.

I worried about that but several on the AppleSeed forum reported it fixed for them so I updated and it was fixed for me as well. But it had also been fixed in 17.3 beta 2 so who knows how long this will last.
And now, it's working. I clicked Sync and just let it sit for a while, and after several minutes, it worked.
Now it's working as it should.

Could be. Had my 15PM replaced due to a hardware issue involving WiFi.
It happens.

I have a crazy bug now and I think I am actually forced to restore ...

I can tap to open apps, swipe up and down but my keyboard does not appear in any app like it just does not pup up and the back buttons in apps in the top left corner also does not work. It's like iOS thinks the text box and the return button aren't actually elements that you can press. I already restarted the phone. It just randomly happened and a restart did not fix it. When I click on a push notification, which normally would take me to the conversion and opens the keyboard, it appears like this (no keyboard):

edit: it fixed itself after I attempted to share a screenshot via iMessage. The keyboard suddenly appeared this way and now it also works in other apps again. how strange!

My iPad does that. I use Google keyboard and every once in a while it's blank but when I close and reopen it, it's there. Doesn't annoy me enough to reinstall. There are other things.

Bit the bullet and updated last night. Can’t even tell it’s a beta. Working just as good as 17.3 for me.

Still has all the UI bugs from 17.3 though, but at least it’s not worse? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am very surprised that a company like Apple has not been able to fix some 2-3 bugs with the user interface for six months, which significantly affects the user experience.
I probably won't wait for ios 18 and switch back to android, since Apple has such an attitude towards its users that they force them to settle for operating system bugs for a year.

Try to cause this problem yourself now:
1. Lower the volume to zero via the buttons
2. Increase it to 50% through the control center
3. Lower it back to zero via the buttons
4. Pull the volume slider down. there will be a short flicker of the slider, it will return to the value it was at for half a second after completing the second step.

I don't understand how you can break something so fundamental...

As for the lags of the control center, start opening or closing it when moving from a room with poor light to a room with good illumination, animation will start playing at 10-20 fps

I used the planned obsolescence simply because at first I thought that this was it, especially since many people write about it on reddit

Volume control is made like it is, so you can control media separately, by using the volume control on the Control Center. Maybe that is what confuses you. It's by design.

Slightly OT:

Demoed Vision Pro this morning. As a content consumption device, it’s unmatched. Wow! Especially spatial video. They are not kidding when they say that you feel like you’re really there. It’s spooky actually.

Jury is still out on actually creating content (you know: work stuff!). They don’t let you try the keyboard, which in itself is a tell.

Has anyone noticed that when unlocking the iPhone even without touching the camera button activates the green indicator in the control centre indicating that the camera app is actually using the camera? It has been since the time of iOS 16 that I have noticed this phenomenon and, to date with the various releases of iOS 17, it still persists
Not seeing that on my 15PM.

Had an odd bug this morning.
15 ProMax

Got a couple of Message Notifications and opened the messages (iMessage) from the Notification. All good.
However … when I looked, Messages still indicated I had unread messages. The same ones I just read.

A hard reboot has apparently - so far - fixed the issue.

Yep. You should probably cut bait and go back to Android if THIS is what will make you go back. It almost feels like you were looking for a reason to call iOS a failure by doing a bunch of obscure actions that no one would do in the normal course of use.
  1. Who would realistically repeatedly switch back and forth with volume changes from 50% to 0% using the different methods of changing it?
  2. Who else purposely makes changes in control center when going from a dark room to a well lit room?
The things you mentioned do not "significantly affect the user experience"

Anyone having CarPlay bug? I'm on a 15 Pro Max on iOS 17.4 beta 2 as of last night. CarPlay connects then immediately disconnects if you touch the cable at all. Tried 2 other cables, same thing. Thought it may be the USB ports in my car, but used my wife's 13 Pro Max with public release of 17.3 and hers connects no problem.

Check your phone's USB port.
