Yesterday I took a screenshot on my Apple Watch S8 at 5:26 pm and that screenshot showed up on my iPhone after 11 pm. I personally don't take screenshot on my Apple Watch so I'm not sure if it's always like that but seems bizarre that 200KB screenshot shows up in photos app after several hours.
Watch SE 2022 and iphone SE 2022
Screen shot sync'd in 3 seconds.

Can anyone reproduce this? I tried sending voice messages to myself with my 15PM but they sound perfectly normal. Does it only affect certain devices?
Do you send many voice messages? I can see how they might sound relatively normal to someone who doesn’t do that a lot but, as someone who sends them all the time, I definitely noticed a difference in the way my messages sound on my 15 Pro.

However, when my buddy sends them from his 13 Mini they sound absolutely horrendous.

Do you think this might be due to some change to the voice recording algorithm? Or a more localized issue within iMessage?

I’m asking because I use a lot the recording feature (not on iMessage), and I’d like to know if it’s safe to update.

Thank you.

I read your reply in the morning and out of curiosity i took another screenshot on my Apple Watch, it was around 11am and it's 5pm and that screenshot still hasn't shown up on my phone 🤠

Not sure about all that… someone smarter than me can speculate better on that.

EDIT: I tried speaking while recording video using the Camera app and it sounded perfectly normal, so it’s not an issue that affects all audio recording… seems to just affect the audio recordings in the Messages app.

I actually don't send any voice messages at all, and the ones I receive are usually not on iMessage, so I just did some tests and it sounded normal. But I can totally believe that there might be a difference to those who use that feature a lot.

It could be they implemented an improved audio codec or something, which may then cause artifacts under some circumstances. I will give it some more tries to see if I notice anything.

Many thanks, that way I can safely update.

I’ve found that if I download some music in the music app sometimes it skips within the song, sounding all choppy, or sometimes even skips to the next track. If I play music not downloaded I don’t see this issue.

iPhone 14 Pro to iPhone SE 3…voice message test both on ios 17.5

Absolutely fine. Completely clear. Both sounded identical.

Always baffles me how these things have such a range of people it effects.
If you wouldn’t mind…could you try recording a voice message with the Apple “Voice Memos” app and then try recording one via the Messages app and compare? I’m floored that you’re finding the quality to be normal…

Help? I’m having old photos I’ve deleted since 2020 coming back in my library. I’ve taken password details from old Samsung device to move to my iPhone way back (yes, I realize my mistakes now) but what about the old devices I’ve sold? It’s not even the same Apple ID, does anyone know how this is happening

Gonna try moving away from Apple over the summer—this bug and randomly getting my Apple Music library deleted after accidentally logging out of the App Store (at the bottom of the Account/Updates page) have inspired me. I’ve frankly grown tired of the walled garden and of only having two easily-accessible choices of smartphone OS.

I’ve purchased an old Sony Xperia XA2 and will make installing and migrating to Sailfish OS a project.

Sailfish work with never devices too. But I have been thinking about this for a long while. Might get one to evaluate how well it works. Would be good to see if they can lift the support for Android apps too.

But the restoring random photos bug that has appeared is reason enough for me to start looking for an iOS alternative.

As a starter, i would contact Apple Support - both via the Feedback app and by phone.

There’s nothing anyone here can do to assist otherwise.

But are we sure this works? Because after every upgrade I install, it's all fine for me for a few days, then it starts again. So I suspect this is just yet another thing that will fix it just for a few days...

Also, does this fix the accuracy or just the lag?

Universal remedy: un-pair and set up as new watch

I’ve recently achieved 9h of screen on time with my SE3 on iOS 16.6.1, with mixed use between WiFi and 5G, although most of it was 5G. The screen was pretty dim most of the time tho.

I’m a bit afraid of losing such great battery life once I update to iOS 17.5, but I’m doing it anyway. And after some time with the same usage , I’ll report back how it went.
