iApplebytes uploaded new video for 17.6. Battery test result: Better than 17.5.1 but worse than 17.5.

I'll continue using 17.5.
Prob depends on the device, apps, usage pattern, connectivity etc. 13 pro here and while I haven't used it in my normal usage pattern it's a noticable positive difference, especially on 5G.
If this applies to my normal usage pattern I'm very impressed.

Also, the pile of security updates makes it worth updating alone.

Current usage isn't much but still.

* 50/50 5G and Wifi
* 50-75% brightness, sometimes prob more (sunny outside)
* some hotspot time
* Not that many BT devices, Airpods and Watch
* No social mediaapps aside from reedit.
* Battery health 85%

SPOILER!

Basically, it looks better (battery-wise) than iOS 17.5, but not as good as 17.5.1, at least for A15 devices.
Considering the vast amount of security fixes it has baked in, I think it is a no brainer to update to 17.6 at this point in the Apple software cycle. Even if that means 15 or 20 minutes less of runtime.

Siri UI is broken
I was pleasantly surprised to find the broken attention aware features have been fixed on my phone after this update.

However, Siri does not work at all for me now. “Siri/hey, Siri” and holding the side button summon Siri, but it does not complete any queries. The little ball will come up and then just disappear. Sometimes, it will sort of listen and catch the last word of what I’m saying and then just disappear. I’ve restated my phone multiple times and disabled and reenabled Siri.

17.6 working well on my 15PM. Averaging 10 hours battery life, or 10% drain per hour of active use off the charger. CarPlay, connectivity, and performance all great.

I absolutely don’t deny the folks who are reporting various problems, and I hope Apple fixes them soon. I’m just adding a data point to the sample.

Exact same thing on my Xs, however this started with 17.5.1 for me. I know it's not my microphone that's the problem.

No more impressions on 17.6? I know it’s iOS 18 & 18.1 beta time, but we’re almost a week in since the release. I guess I’ll finally update ALL my devices this weekend… If there aren’t many complaints, maybe it’s a good sign.

It’s really erratic. On my 15 Pro I have some good days (like today, WiFi only, see screenshot) and some very bad days.
Camera uses a lot more battery that it used to, I don’t know why. Same with 4G/5G connectivity.

Battery life has been kind weird like it’s bipolar or something on my 13P @97%.

Some days it’s great and then standby drain on some is inexplicable. Everyday though it’s better during actual use.

17.6 running fine here on 12 Pro and SE 2020. Battery life is good, better than on 17.5.1.
For me 17.6 is the best 17.x so far - although 15.x and even 16.x were a lot better in regards to battery life...

All good here too. No real issues to report. Even the alarm widget works (thats a hit and miss with every update without fooling with it for days). Battery same or better than previous versions. Apparently the security updates are a pretty big deal. Lots of info out there to "update ASAP".

Goodbye iOS 17.6, finally caved in and jumping on iOS 18 beta. Hopefully I won’t regret it lol

Having problem since 17.6 with Photos not pulling down family album pics my wife took. I get blank icons in my album with the little cloud symbol and the “shared” icon thingie indicating they are there in iCloud and available but cannot be pulled down to MY device. Doesn’t matter if I am on wifi, charging, etc. reboot doesn’t help. Clicking the pic just says error.

Can you see the photos if you visit your iCloud via web browser?
Maybe there went something wrong while uploading the pictures?
