Has anybody else had major issues with HomePods and/or airplay?

I was on a quick 6-day trip, and when I came back on Saturday my OG HomePod was completely inaccessible from any other device. It can only tell me "Here's a station just for you" if I touch the top of it. I have done multiple factory resets, set it up from my phone (iOS 17), my partner's phone on iOS 16.5, my iPad Pro (iPadOS 17). I've unpaired it from my Home app and re-added it. I can't airplay to it from any of those devices, or my Apple TV or MacBook. My HomePod mini was fine for a few days, but is now doing the same thing. Both HomePods are also on current beta software.

I was hoping today's update would fix this, but the results are still the same. I'm sitting here with $400 of worthless speakers and I'm out of troubleshooting ideas.

I always wonder how things like this come about. Like who at Apple was tasked with redesigning the minute TV Remote icon instead of working on bug fixes and new features, and why now?
You do know that there are hundreds, probably thousands of people who work on OS updates, and many of those are not engineers and do not touch code? Software development is not a zero-sum endeavour.

Look at the known issues in the release notes. There are AirPlay ones listed - these could maybe be the root of your problem. Regular beta bugs I guess, should be fixed for final release at the latest.

Certain content blockers / Adguard still broken unfortunately. Using Ghostery instead. Not as effective, but better than nothing.

I caught those, but I hoped I would at least be able to set up my HomePod and use voice commands. I can't do anything at all. It doesn't respond to any voice prompting, and when I press the top button on either device I still can't ask anything, it just plays random music. Wildly frustrating.

My original HomePod downloads the homePodOS beta then restarts the download. Seems to go into a loop lime this. Unplugged HomePod same issue.

Anyone else notice this? My other HomePods update properly.

Yes. Really annoying.

It even shows up and downloads with “HomePod beta updates” switched off.

Anyone else experiencing this or know how to fix it? I thought it might be a beta issue but I don’t know. Using CarPlay, when I get a text the first one reads perfectly fine at the set volume. However on the next and subsequent ones the volume is so low you can barely hear it. I’ve adjusted the volume in the car but that doesn’t help. Saying Hey Siri that response is normal but answering g is again so low.
Last beta I reinstalled but that did t fix it. I tried looking in Siri settings or some other Settings but I can’t figure it out. Suggestions?
Music and Podcasts are fine.
